Members, join us at Fettes College for the AHSS’s 70th Annual General Meeting.

Following the meeting, we’ll tour the college, with the opportunity for AGM attendees to visit another remarkable David Bryce building—Glen House, near Innerleithen—in the afternoon.

Come together with fellow members, hear about the Society’s work and explore two buildings connected to one of Scotland’s most celebrated architects.

Look beyond the plasterwork and proportions of a Robert Adam interior, and there’s another story to discover.

Italian painters brought historical and mythological scenes into these celebrated rooms. Some were founding members of the Royal Academy, yet their names are less familiar today.

🏙️ How different would Glasgow look if some of its lost buildings were still standing today?

Glasgow’s architectural story isn’t only told through the buildings that survive.

In his talk for our Strathclyde Group, conservation architect and former AHSS Chair Peter Drummond explores some of the buildings the city has lost over the years — and what their disappearance can tell us about Glasgow’s changing built environment.

A chance to rediscover familiar streets, vanished landmarks and a Glasgow that exists now only in photographs, drawings and memories.

Our 70th AGM takes place at Fettes College, followed by a tour of the building and an optional afternoon visit to David Bryce’s remarkable Glen House.

Explore David Bryce’s architectural legacy inside one of his own buildings.

The AHSS and the Edinburgh School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture invite you to a symposium marking 150 years since Bryce’s death.

Held at the former Edinburgh Royal Infirmary—now the Edinburgh Futures Institute—the conference will share new research into the architect behind Fettes College, grand country houses and some of Edinburgh’s most recognisable buildings.
