Sunflower Scotland

Sunflower Scotland Sunflower Scotland SCIO, registered charity SC052092. Helping Ukrainian medics to save lives at the front. We deliver aid directly to frontline Ukraine.

Supporting 12 hospitals and vulnerable people near the front: older persons, disabled, orphans. Our point of difference is that we support people in villages 0-20 km from the front line. Our volunteers from Edinburgh and Kharkiv personally go there to help people in real need, we know first hand what's going on. Starting from September 2022, we buy food in Ukraine rather than shipping it from the

UK. First, it is much cheaper. Second, we support local producers - rather than hurting Ukraine's economy with free food. We collect full evidence that the aid reaches people who need it. Please support our work!

Sunflower Scotland donates medical equipment from Scotland to Ukrainian medics of 253 Assault Regiment. They are protecting Zaporizhzhia and its civilian population.

Zaporizhzhia is under attack: every day Russia destroys blocks of flats with gliding bombs and Shahed droned. Indiscriminate k@ of civilians is a war crime... They don't seem to care, this is actually their strategy.

Ukraine's 253rd regiment - together with other brave defenders - are doing what they can to protect Zaporizhzhia. It's tough. The number of drones is mental. Many men are wounded every day. Medics of the 253rd need tools and consumables to save their lives.

Our team came from Scotland to Zaporizhzhia to support the medics. We had two vehicles loaded with supplies: catheters, bandages, syringes, and much more.

🙏❤️We thank Edinburgh Western General Hospital and St Columba's Hospice Care for donating supplies.

All supplies were "in-date". Together with our supporters, we donate good stuff. What 🇺🇦 medics need to do their job and save lives.

P.S. after donating medical items we gave the cars to Kraken - absolutely for free - here in Zaporizhzhia. Please check our previous report.

We sincerely thank all our supporters. We can deliver aid only thanks to you.🙏❤️

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🇺🇦 Sunflower Scotland is proud to support 🇺🇦 regiment with a donation of two vehicles: a 🛻 2020 Ford Connect and a 🚙 2014 Skoda Yeti.

These vehicles will help Kraken's drone team to protect Zaporizhzhia and innocent people from Russia's brutal attacks.

❤️‍🩹😰Every day Zaporizhzhia is being terrorised with FPV drones, large Shaded drones, and gliding bombs. Russia is ruining the city and k # innocent women and children. We need to help.

Sunflower's Oleg Dmitriev had been staying in the region for a few weeks. Now Sunflower's members Stevie Blythe and Elvira Dmitrieva arrived with 🛻🚙 vehicles loaded with medical aid.

Yuri - the head of Ukrainian charity "Patriot" - helped us with customs paperwork and joined us in Zaporizhzhia.

🏥🧑‍⚕️❤️‍🩹This donation is a part of a two-stage mission. First, we used these vehicles to deliver medical aid for frontline medics in Zaporizhzhia.

After that, we donated both vehicles to Kraken.

🙏 Our sincere thanks our donor and supporter 🇬🇧Alison for helping us to secure the Connect van.

🙏We thank Lochrin Autos in Edinburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 for helping with the Skoda Yeti.

❤️And we are truly grateful to each and every sponsor and supporter for helping us with donations. All your donations are working and helping people in Ukraine 🇺🇦❤️

Sunflower Scotland is proud to support 🇺🇦"Strong Because Free" - an evac charity from with a donation of Ford Focus.

The car used to belong to Andrew Dmitriev who personally drove it from Edinburgh to Lviv. Thank you! 🙏❤️

We met with the Kherson charity in Mykolaiv. The guys took it to Kherson, where it is already helping and evacuating the people.

The car was packed with adult nappies: for older and disabled people in Kherson who cannot move.

We sincerely thank AUGB Edinburgh and St Columba's Hospice Care for donating the nappies.

Sunflower Scotland's chairman Oleg Dmitriev worked with a 🇺🇦 med evac team north of Komyshuvaha, Zaporizhzhia.

Their job was to provide medical first aid to the wounded who arrive from the front, and to bring them to stabilisation point.

Oleg did this posting in order to learn what medical supplies are really necessary. He is sharing important conclusions:

1. Russian drones are everywhere. We were 20km behind the battle line. Especially in the morning and in the evening, drones would come in waves, one after another, looking for a vehicle to hit. You hide, it hovers above you. Then it finds something else and goes there and "bang".

I had to carry a drone detector all the time.

2. Evac may take 2 weeks, sometimes more. After someone's received a wound, it may take 2 - 14 days or more to get them to hospital.

3. The wounded need to survive for two weeks (at least). The 🇺🇦 medics use their own drones to send pill-packs: painkillers and bandages.

All NATO medics protocols are useless. They are based on immediate evacuation (golden hour). The reality is now different: two weeks.

Wounds get patched right in the trenches. If sepsis starts, they may need to cut it.

I met with Dyma who stayed for 5 months. His leg was broken. He hid himself in the bushes until the bones fused and eventually he managed to crawl back.

4. Ambulances are targets. After arriving at a pick up point, a pickup with the wounded would arrive from the front. Two medics would start providing first aid: clean the wounds, give painkillers, apply bandages etc.

My job was to monitor the drone detector, observe the sky ("listen to the sky"), and be ready to shoot a drone with a shotgun.

5. Water is gold. There's not enough to drink. Water is dropped by drones. There's not enough to clean the wounds.

6. Here's what is needed. Please donate from the list, or send us money so we can buy it. Thank you.

- Chlorhexidine spray and wipes (wound cleansing)
- Saline spray cans
- Safety needle cannula: 18g, 20g, 22g
- Israeli bandage 4"
- Haemostatic bandage
- Burn dressing large
- IV Catheters
- Splints, esp traction splints
- Syringes 2, 5, 10, 20
Drugs - we will buy in Ukraine due to export controls :
- wide spectrum antibiotics
- anti-inflammatories NSAID, Meloxicam etc.
- Metoclopramide (anti vomiting)
- Farmacitron (similar to Lemsip) - paracetamol, vitamin C - will be super usefulbin autumn / winter

Sunflower Scotland donates a 4x4 SUV to brave Ukrainian defenders of the Khartiya brigade.

The vehicle will help them to protect innocent women and children in Kharkiv. Russian terrorists are attacking the city every day with gliding bombs, missiles and drones.

Our sincere congratulations to our volunteer Vitaly Grigorov on joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are honoured to have worked with you ❤️.

❤️We are grateful to all our 🇬🇧 British supporters. We can support Ukraine only thanks to you 🙏

We thank Olena Romanenko for joining our convoy and helping us to get the car to Kharkiv where it is needed.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤️🇺🇦 Sunflower Scotland delivered much-needed wheelchairs and walking aids to Novopillya Hospital 🏥 in 🇺🇦Kryvyi Rih.

This large hospital treats thousands of pensioners in Kryvyi Rih. The walking aids will help older patients to move about in the hospital.

We thank St Columba's Hospice Care and AUGB Edinburgh for donating wheelchairs and walking aids ❤️. Your donations are working and helping people every day. Thank you!

We thank all our British donors and supporters. Every donation helps us to get aid to where it's needed.

Our dear Ukrainian friends helped us to deliver aid. We thank Olena Romanenko and Щира Справа

P.S. This delivery was a part of our 27th mission to Ukraine.

How we work:

1. At Sunflower Scotland we speak directly with doctors and know what is needed.

2. We source what's required and deliver it.

3. We don't post photos of how we are receiving donations in the UK. We post photos of how we deliver aid to those who need it, and tell you exactly who received it and where.

That's Sunflower Scotland.

Sunflower Scotland donated a Mercedes Vito van to 🐦‍🔥 Ukraine's UAV Forces 🇺🇦. Purpose: to help with logistics and evacuations.

❤️💪This well-known, heroic regiment is doing all they can to protect the people of Ukraine. This van will be helping them every day in their hard work.

🏥Before donating the van, we used it to carry medical supplies for the Kramatorsk hospital (see our previous report).

❤️🙏We sincerely thank Mr John C who donated the van. It was in good condition. We serviced it and did all the necessary repairs: brakes, coolant pump, etc.

Sunflower's team drove the Vito van all the way from Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 to Kharkiv. From there we went to Pavlohrad.

There, we transferred the van, absolutely for free: we never take anything from Ukraine.

Thanks to all Ukrainian volunteers who helped us make this possible: Юрій Сергійович Діброва , Olena Romanenko , Vitaly Grigorov . We're glad to be working together with kind and honest people!

About Sunflower's work:

1. We use vehicles to deliver medical aid to dangerous places. No logistical company will go there.

2. We don't trust sweet promises. We go ourselves and make sure vehicles get to those who need them at the front, and don't end up on the black market.

3. We do full customs clearance and follow the law.

❤️Thank you all who support us. It's hard work and we need every bit of help.

Sunflower Scotland donated a van load of medical supplies to the medics of ❤️🇺🇦 Kramatorsk military hospital.

We brought exactly what the medics asked for:
- Sterile and non-sterile bandages, dressings
- Urine catheters and collection bags
- Crutches
In addition we brought iGels, surgical instruments, hospital gowns and nasal sprays.

All supplies were IN DATE. (out of date supplies are forbidden in Ukraine).

🙏❤️We sincerely thank Roman Krol and NHS Bradford for donating the catheters, bandages and lots of useful supplies.

🙏❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 We thank Scottish paramedics for donating crutches and gowns.
... 🙏🙏🙏and we sincerely thank all our 🇬🇧 British donors who have supported us: we are sincerely grateful. Your aid is working and helping people 🇺🇦.

About our work:

- Sunflower Scotland speaks directly with Ukrainian doctors and knows what is REALLY needed and NOT NEEDED.

- Sunflower Scotland delivers emergency aid where it is absolutely required. First priority locations.

- We don't send untrained Ukrainian volunteers to die for us in dangerous places. We are trained Tactical First Aiders. We have drone detectors, body armour and 4x4 vehicles. We don't play with other people's lives.
