For many people, calendars don’t just mark dates, they carry memories.

Father’s Day, alongside anniversaries of loss or important milestones, can bring a mix of emotions. For some, it’s a time to celebrate and feel close to their father; for others, it may feel heavy, painful, or unexpectedly quiet. Both experiences and everything in between are completely valid.

Our Bereavement Volunteer, Angee Addison, has kindly shared her feelings with us about this year's Father's Day, in the images below.

If you’d like to share a memory of someone with us this Father’s Day, we welcome you to do so on our Memory Wall; a place where you can share words, feelings and photos, creating a lasting tribute online.

The event featured an impressive display of classic cars and motorcycles, live demonstrations, student projects and carnival activities.

We are always amazed by the lengths our supporters go to, but Claire took things to a whole new level for this year's Virtual TCS London Marathon. 🚢

After Claire and her sister Michelle signed up to run the virtual marathon in Eastbourne, they soon realised that the marathon date clashed with Claire's birthday cruise. Instead of cancelling, Claire decided to run the 26.2 miles on the cruiseship! Meanwhile, her sister Michelle smashed her virtual marathon back home in Eastbourne.

“I was pretty worried about the prospect of such a repetitive run and was sad not to be running with Michelle, as we’d been through all the highs and lows of training together, including running Eastbourne Half Marathon,” Claire said. “When it came to the Virtual Marathon, I realised I would need to run through the night in order to avoid the possible busyness of the deck during the day. I started just before 2am and although my husband saw me off, I was then running on my own in the dark for the next four hours. My music really kept me going!

“When the sun rose around 6am it was a real sight for sore eyes. The deck started to get busier with other runners and walkers and my husband joined me for the last few miles before rallying a few people to cheer me on for my last lap and to hold the St Wilfrid’s banner,” Claire said.

Claire and Michelle raised over £2,000 in memory of their beloved father, and brother David, honouring the care they received at St Wilfrid’s.
