Prayer Prompt: Forgiveness

Forgiveness is such an emotive thing. It so often includes pain, disappointment and distress at the actions of others or at ourselves.

Maybe we’ve found ourselves wondering, how can I ever forgive them or myself? We wonder about what happens next. What’s an appropriate boundary with someone? Does it mean I will just forget? Does forgiveness mean I condone what’s been done?

The wrestle of forgiveness is real.

This Easter, let’s consider Jesus. His death. His offer of forgiveness on the cross. His offer of forgiveness to every human being. In exchange for our brokenness and self-sabotage, we are given salvation and freedom.

Let’s prayerfully approach forgiveness…

✝️ Pray as you receive it from Jesus, knowing you are loved unconditionally.
✝️ Pray as you respond to Holy Spirit, bring your hurt and pain to the Comforter.
✝️ Pray as you reflect it to others, asking for wisdom and courage.

Two others, both criminals, were led out to be executed with him. When they came to a place called The Skull they nailed him to the cross. And the criminals were also crucified—one on his right and one on his left.

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice. Luke 23:32-34

Prayer Prompt: Change

Following Jesus includes navigating change and growth - in who we are becoming and in the circumstances of life.

How can we experience change in a positive and healthy way? As we are following Jesus have we picked up anything that is not of, from or for Him? Is there anything we need to give to God? Or receive from God?

🙏 In this period of LENT, let’s reflect with Holy Spirit and ask for change and growth in who we are becoming.

Use the Psalm below to pray, and as you pray, listen to what Spirit is saying and showing you.

Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
Point out anything in me that offends you,
and lead me along the path of everlasting life.
Psalm 139:23-24

🟢 What are you invited to receive?
🟢 Where are you invited to repent?
🟢 How can you respond to His grace?

Elim Missions is closely monitoring the ongoing situation across the Middle East, in the wake of the offensive launched by the US and Israel against Iran and the retaliation from Iran.

We have partners in various nations across the Middle East, and we are in regular contact with them to determine how we can help.

One of our partners told us, “In light of the recent explosions and the displacement that has followed, we have opened our church building to receive families who have fled from affected areas and whose homes have been damaged or destroyed. Today we received three families, and we are expecting three more tomorrow. The number of displaced people is increasing, and the need is significant.”

Another told us, “Many airstrikes are taking place now next to our town, less than a mile away.”

Our Elim Relief Appeal for the Middle East is still active, and we are in dialogue with our partners to find out how to get funds to them at this time. They are working with displaced families, providing shelter and essential supplies.

If you would like to donate to our ongoing Elim Relief Appeal, you can do so here: https://elim.enthuse.com/eramiddleeast

Please join us in praying for the Middle East. Pray for:
- Peace in the region
- Wisdom for world leaders
- Safety for people in the region, especially civilians caught up in the bombing

Prayer Prompt: Freedom

Through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus we are rescued + given freedom. Freedom from the consequences of choosing our own way and freedom to become like Jesus.

What do we want to do with this kind of freedom?

→ Freedom to choose to follow.
→ Freedom to be formed into His likeness.
→ Freedom to serve one another.

🙏 Pray for yourself to experience a deeper sense of freedom + to live out this freedom given through Jesus.

🙏 Let’s pray for the Elim Network Conference meeting on 7th March. Asking God to reveal more freedom and grace as leaders meet for equipping and inspiration.

📖Use the following verse to pray for yourself and your church community…

For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbour as yourself.” Galatians 3:13-14
