Blackberry Buzzard Nature Sessions

We had such a creative day on Sunday at the Rooted Community Food, community allotment launch day. We set ourselves up on the new addition Roots and Boots children’s growing allotment which is going to be such a lovely space for young children to experience learning to grow there own food and flower plants.
A natural woven screen was built up over the day, children and adults alike took great pleasure in weaving plant materials and natural fibres and adding flowers to the frame. Some made garden decorations and bird feeders.The food and entertainment was excellent.

Join us this Sunday 23rd April at the Rooted Community Food open day launch event between 11am and 3pm at the community plot in Gorringe Road, Eastbourne.

We will be supporting their event by putting on a FREE natural weaving session. Pop along and get yourself weaving! They’ll be food and live music, with all funds raised being used to further their community food project work.

Treescape concertina book gallery

We had a busy but very relaxed session at the Towner today working on mixed media concertina treescape books. We started with leaf rubbings using soft pencil, wax crayon and wax pastels. We used a frame to identify two areas of our workings that we wanted to use and then cut them out and pasted into our concertina books. We used block and potatoes prints for the other two sections which were also pasted in. Those that had time, created tree silhouettes on the back panels using wax pastels over the top to create texture.

It was lovely to meet new and old faces and we are looking forward to our next session in Feb where we’ll be making nature brushes and getting creative with mark-making. Our Feb session booking will go live around the 4th Feb.
