Eastbourne Stand Up to Racism

Eastbourne Stand Up to Racism Stand Up to Racism in Eastbourne Our media in the UK and our politicians continually amplify racist fears against refugees and muslims. All welcome to join us.

Stand Up To Racism (SUTR) is a national organisation with local groups that works with the trade union movement and locally with other grassroots anti-racist campaigns to root out racism in all its forms. We are a local SUTR group formed in 2021 to oppose racism and to stand alongside the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people of Eastbourne. A racist offensive is sweeping Europe and the USA, with

governments and the right-wing media using migrants, refugees and Muslims as scapegoats for an economic crisis they did not create. The current economic crisis provides fertile ground for racism. We are straying into danger fascist times with the rise of the far right in street movements like Tommy Robinson marches and in the racist narratives of Reform UK. We must unite and organise against this trajectory or will find ourselves back in the 1930s. Message us for more information. CONDUCT NOTICE

We are a campaign group that values the rich diversity in our communities be it racial diversity, religions or no faiths, gender roles, sexuality, disabilities, age and all else. Please be mindful not to make discriminatory comments of any kind. We value differences of viewpoints - we are allowed to disagree on issues, this is the human way. But, please be mindful not to make disrespectful comments about persons both on and off this platform. And please mind your language. From time to time the moderators may need to remind us of these expectations. In some cases comments may need to be hidden. NOTE Persistent offenders will be blocked. Our aim is to build a community where respect for and celebration of our differences is valued above all else.

'CARNIVAL AGAINST FASCISM'

SATURDAY 13 JUNE
Anti-fascists meet 11 am, Queens Road, Brighton.

The far-right are targeting Brighton. Why? Because they view it as a progressive city which is multicultural, diverse and inclusive, with well represented LGBTQ+ communities. All the things they hate.

THIS IS WHAT COMMUNITY LOOKS LIKE!

A rainbow coalition of anti-fascists and anti-racists has been organising and mobilising resistance for many weeks now. Grassroots activities have included public meetings, street stalls, banner making workshops, benefit gigs, history talks, networking events, banner drops and much more.

Organised opposition will be big.

Brighton is asking us to come together and unite to give the far-right the welcome that they deserve.

Join the counter-demo if you possibly can.

¡No pasarán!
