🌳 Calling all Hi-Vis Heroes for Saturday 07/11/2026

Good news, everyone! The roster is looking healthier than a blackbird that's just discovered a fresh stash of worms.

Bad news... there are still a couple of empty spaces lurking about.
We've checked. The squirrels aren't available, and the Ushaw sculptures have once again declined to volunteer.

So we're turning to our favourite people instead. 🩷

With our spooky Saturday now behind us, it's time to look ahead to Saturdays November!

Don't forget, we'll be taking a break on 14 November, so for your weekly parkrun fix, you'll need to enjoy a bit of parkrun tourism.

We'll be back the following Saturday and ready to welcome you all once again at Ushaw!

Zombies, witches, ghosts and a few runners gathered at Ushaw Historic House, Chapels & Gardens this morning for our 45th event. With Halloween spirit in abundance, a course full of smiles and enough fancy dress to raise the dead, it was another spooktacular Saturday morning at parkrun.

🦇 This morning, 29 hi-vis heroes emerged from the shadows to conjure up another fantastic event, helping 167 brave souls run, jog and walk their way into the weekend.

Among today's fearless adventurers:
🎃 1 brave soul summoned the courage to start their parkrun journey. Welcome to the coven! Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
👻 81 first-time visitors wandered through the gates and discovered the magic of Ushaw for the very first time. We hope you've left spellbound, with tired legs, happy hearts and plans to return soon.
🧙‍♀️ 21 speed-loving spirits flew to shiny new Personal Bests. Whether chased by ghosts, goblins or simply the promise of a post-parkrun brew, those broomsticks were clearly working overtime!

As always, it wasn't just about the times. You brought the encouragement, the laughter and the community spirit that makes Ushaw such a special place every Saturday morning.

The fancy dress may be heading back into storage and the broomsticks parked up for another year, but we'll be back next Saturday for all the usual parkrun goodness. Same smiles, same stunning surroundings, and hopefully a little less risk of being chased by zombies.

The course has been thoroughly inspected by our team of highly qualified monster hunters, pumpkin inspectors and volunteer ghostbusters.

We're pleased to report:
🧟‍♂️ No lurking zombies
🧙‍♀️ No rogue witches parked on the course
🐿️ No evidence of a squirrel uprising (for now)
🍂 One very scenic autumnal course ready for your Halloween adventure
So it's official...

🎃 WE ARE GOOD TO GO! 🎃

Pull on your costumes, lace up your running shoes, and join us for a frightfully fun morning at Ushaw Historic House parkrun.

Whether you're running, jogging, walking, volunteering or simply cheering from the sidelines, we can't wait to see all your spooky outfits and smiling faces.

👻 See you soon... if you dare! 👻

It's Wednesday, and Saturday is spookily close, but somehow, those three sleeps still feel longer than a 5k with a horde of zombies chasing you all the way to the finish funnel!

This Saturday, we’re hoping to see a few Halloween costumes around Ushaw, although fancy dress is entirely optional. Of course, a couple of our volunteers see “optional fancy dress” as more of a challenge than a suggestion, so there will most certainly be witches, pumpkins and other suspicious characters lurking around the course.

So what are your plans for Saturday?

🧟‍♂️ Chasing a frighteningly fast PB
👻 Enjoying a ghostly stroll
🧛🏻‍♀️ Wearing a hi-vis cape and volunteering
🎃 Visiting Ushaw for the first time
💀 Heading off on a spooky parkrun tourism adventure
🧙‍♀️Debating which fancy dress outfit to wear

Whatever your plans, we're looking forward to seeing you on Saturday morning for a frightfully fun parkrun!
