Imagine finally having somewhere safe to sleep after 13 months of homelessness.💙🧡

For the past week, one individual had been visiting our Homeless Hub in Bishop Auckland every day, pushing all of their belongings around in a shopping trolley.

Yesterday, they were able to move into our emergency accommodation, getting them out of the changing weather and away from the daily uncertainty that comes with not having a place to call home.

Today, after just one night in a safe place, they seemed brighter, more positive, and were already talking about rebuilding their life and moving forward from homelessness. One of the first things on their to-do list was returning the shopping trolley that had carried their belongings for so long.

Sometimes it’s the little things that show someone is beginning to look ahead again.

🌦️ For most of us, the weather is an inconvenience. For someone sleeping rough, it can be a matter of survival.

One minute the sun is beating down, the next there’s torrential rain and bitterly cold winds. Living outdoors in these conditions can lead to dehydration, illness, exhaustion, soaked clothing and bedding, and a constant struggle to stay safe and well.

Our Homeless Response Team in Hartlepool is out day and night, whatever the weather, following up StreetLink referrals and sightings from the local community. Whether it’s early morning, late at night, or during adverse weather conditions, our team is committed to finding and supporting those who are sleeping rough and helping them access the support they need.

Much of this work is unfunded.

💙🧡 Today was Jamie’s last day with our team as he moves on to an exciting new role supporting and inspiring young people.

A big thank you for all your hard work, both in our Homeless Hub and across the Hartlepool community. You’ve been a fantastic part of the team and will be missed by everyone.

Anyone who has worked with Jamie will know he always brought plenty of energy, laughter, and the occasional dance move to brighten up the day! 🕺🏻🪩

Last week our Homeless Hubs were incredibly busy during our Community Drop-In sessions, supporting people across the Northeast. 💙🧡

Our Community Drop-In is back tomorrow from 12pm–2pm at both locations, Hartlepool and Bishop Auckland.

Whether you need support, advice, access to facilities, or simply a safe and welcoming place to visit, our doors are open.

A huge thank you to Cornerstone Charity for allowing us to hold our Pre-Loved Baby & Toddler Clothing Event. We are so grateful for your support and for providing a welcoming space for families in our community.
