Have you ever thought about the impact of the things we use every day? 👕📱🍎⚡

Our World, Our Impact helps children explore how everyday choices – from the clothes we wear and the food we eat to the technology we use and the energy we consume – affect both people and the planet.

Through learning and discussion, children are discovering where things come from, how they are made and the environmental and social impacts behind them.

By understanding the story behind the things we often take for granted, young people can feel empowered to make more informed choices and take positive action for a more sustainable future! 🌱🌎

Successful applicants will receive an orchard and/or hedgerow pack, along with a range of engaging educational resources and training. Developed by educators and experts, these curriculum-linked materials help schools make the most of their new orchard while bringing outdoor learning to life.

🌿 Would your school like to take part in one of our exciting projects? 🌿

Here at OASES, we’re currently applying for funding to deliver several projects for schools. To help strengthen our applications, we’re looking for expressions of interest from schools that would like to get involved.

Take a look at the projects we’re hoping to deliver:
🌳 John Muir – A 10-week programme where pupils will work towards achieving the John Muir Award by discovering, exploring and conserving a wild place, before sharing their experiences at a celebration event.
💚 Forest Bathing – A 5-week, nature-based wellbeing programme, including a staff twilight session and a family celebration event.
💨 Wind Warriors – An interactive wind turbine assembly, combined with a climate lesson and workshop.

What if improving staff wellbeing could also help local children experience the same benefits? 🌿

Work-related stress, anxiety and depression continue to have a significant impact on organisations and employees alike. Yet one of the simplest wellbeing interventions is often right on our doorstep: spending mindful time in nature.

At OASES, we've been delivering Forest Bathing sessions since 2018, helping people slow down, reconnect with nature and experience the proven benefits of time spent in woodland environments.

Research has shown Forest Bathing can help:

🌱 Reduce stress and anxiety
🌱 Improve focus and cognitive function
🌱 Lower blood pressure and heart rate
🌱 Improve sleep quality
🌱 Boost emotional wellbeing and resilience

We are now inviting businesses and organisations to take part in Forest Bathing wellbeing sessions for staff at Hamsterley Forest or Chopwell Woods.

And here's the part we're most excited about...

We hope participating organisations will choose to sponsor local school children to experience Forest Bathing too, helping to improve wellbeing across our wider community.

Better staff wellbeing today. Brighter futures for local children tomorrow.

🍏🎪 JLYSG APPLE FEST - SUN 18TH OCT 🎪🍏🍎

Come and celebrate the building of Just Let Your Soul Grow new community cabin with our very first Apple Fest! From 11am-3pm come and make apple juice, crisps, chutneys and games! This is a massive community garden get-together through our See You in the Garden programme

🍎 From 12pm-1pm we will have the amazing local performers Circurama 🎪✨️

🍎 Do I need to bring my own apples?
The community event is free for everybody. We absolutely welcome optional apple donations for activities during the day

🍎 Can I take juice /chutney home?
Please do bring a jar, bottle or tub to take your beautiful culinary creations home with you to enjoy, as we will not have containers for everyone
