This is NOT a political post but one to inform our many older Freemasons.
An official petition calling for the personal tax allowance to be increased to £18,000 has been started, putting renewed pressure on the government over the frozen income tax threshold.
The personal allowance has remained at £12,570 since 2021 and will not rise until April 2031 but I guess that will be changed too.
Its prolonged freeze means that as wages increase, more workers are pulled into income tax through fiscal drag. This affects basic state pensioners now too. Many people who have worked all their life will have a state pension and a work pension which means you WILL already be paying tax on part of it.
This WILL affect you and your families. Please consider signing the petition.
Since 2021 personal tax allowance has been frozen at £12,570. This freeze was due to expire this year but the Chancellor of the Exchequer has extended it to 2031. We want to keep some more of our own money.
