We did a donation to Carmel at Henry Dancer Days yesterday. Carmel is the storyteller on the oncology unit at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

“Henry Dancer Days was set up in memory of 12-year-old Henry who lost his life to Osteosarcoma, a Primary Bone cancer in 2010… After just 348 days of treatment Henry sadly passed away… To continue Henry’s legacy, his Mum Jane founded Henry Dancer Days in 2012 with the aim of helping other children and families who are in the same situation.“

The charity supports families through Storytelling, their Pottery Project and hardship supports.

Providing these books means that Carmel is able to have a wider variety of books available and is able to gift books to children too.

Jude loved his time with Carmel reading to him. It gave him some much needed distraction and always managed to make him smile.

This is Mary Barella who ran the Great North Run yesterday, with some of the pieces her son Jack created with our Pottery Ladies during his treatment in Newcastle. Thank you to Mary, and all of our 2026 runners, who have raised nearly £12,000 to help children with cancer!
