We’re incredibly proud to announce that some members of our Laurel United Youth Group have been nominated for the award of ‘Youth Action Key+ Superstars of the Year!!’ for the fantastic project they carried out earlier this year! 🤩

As many of you may remember, 10 members of our senior group worked together to create mental health support packs, which were then distributed to three local schools. These packs were designed to provide young people with access to helpful resources and support within their school environment.

This nomination is a wonderful recognition of the hard work, dedication, and compassion shown by our young people. We couldn’t be prouder of the positive impact they have made in their local community.

Congratulations to everyone involved, and we wish them the very best of luck! 🎉👏💙🩵💚

We were delighted to welcome more guests from King’s Church Durham today, who gathered with our Lunch Club residents to share music and enjoy a wonderful sing-along together.

The music, singing, and companionship created a warm and joyful atmosphere. One of the highlights of the afternoon was a special rendition of Sweet Caroline, with the lyrics cleverly adapted to “Sweet Laurel Ave”, much to everyone’s delight!

Thank you all for helping to create such wonderful memories—we look forward to welcoming you back again soon. 🎵❤️😊

Our staff have now landed back in the UK after spending just over two weeks teaching EFL in Vietnam. 🇻🇳

What an incredible experience it has been for them! They have made lasting memories, gained valuable insights, and represented our organisation brilliantly throughout their time abroad.

We can’t wait to share their stories and experiences with you all when they return to work next week. Welcome home! ✈️

Please note there is NO youth sessions tomorrow - Tuesday 2nd June. Our staff are still in Vietnam and will return on Saturday 6th June.

All youth sessions held at Laurel Avenue will recommence on Tuesday 9th June.

All members of Laurel United senior group are welcome to attend The LAB youth session held at Belmont Community centre on Friday between 4:15-5:45 pm. This session will still go ahead this week. 😊

After two full days teaching EFL in Vietnam, we’ve gained a genuinely eye-opening insight into the country’s schools and education system. The warmth and enthusiasm shown by the children has been incredible to experience.

Today was especially emotional for Amy, who has built such strong and positive relationships with so many of the children in such a short space of time. Seeing the excitement on their faces and the confidence they’ve already started to develop has made the experience hugely rewarding for all of us.

Memories that will stay with us for a very long time. 🥹

We had our final teacher training session at the University of Foreign Languages in Danang today. An amazing and emotional experience. We presented about family life in the UK, and in return learned about life in Vietnam. A memorable cultural exchange and a very emotional day. So much learned beyond the classroom and friendships made for life. 🇻🇳
