County Durham Lieutenancy The official page of County Durham Lieutenancy. Mr Mike Butterwick is His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant.

The fundamental principle concerning the office of Lord-Lieutenant is that the Lord-Lieutenant is His Majesty's representative in the Lieutenancy area and it is her first and foremost duty to uphold the dignity of the Crown. The Lord-Lieutenant promotes a good atmosphere and spirit of co-operation by the encouragement she gives to voluntary service and to benevolent organisations and by the interest she takes in the business, industrial and social life of her area.

The Lord Lieutenant of County Durham was delighted to present a number of officers and civilian staff with long service award medals at a recent ceremony in Durham . During his speech he thanked the award winners and their colleagues for dedicated public service .
