Celebrating The King's Trust at Stockton Riverside College

On Wednesday evening, I had the pleasure of visiting Stockton Riverside College for a special exhibition celebrating 50 years of The King's Trust and 30 years of Stockton Riverside College delivering King's Trust programmes.

It was a fantastic event that recognised the incredible work carried out over many years to support and inspire young people, helping them to develop new skills, build confidence, and achieve their potential.

I was delighted to join several distinguished guests, including the Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham, Mr Mike Butterwick CBE, and the Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland Cllr Ceri Cawley, in marking this important milestone.

Congratulations to everyone involved in organising the exhibition and, most importantly, to all those who have contributed to the success of The King's Trust programmes over the past three decades at Stockton Riverside College. Your dedication has made a real difference to the lives of countless young people across our region.

As we celebrate National Cadets Week, I want to take a moment to recognise and thank everyone who makes Durham Army Cadet Force the organisation it is.

To our cadets, you are at the heart of everything we do. Your enthusiasm, determination, resilience and willingness to challenge yourselves never fail to impress me. Whether you are on parade, out in the field, learning new skills, competing, volunteering in your community or supporting your friends, you should be incredibly proud of all that you achieve.

To our Adult Volunteers and PSS, thank you for the time, commitment and dedication you give to our cadets. Much of what you do happens quietly behind the scenes, but its impact is significant. Through your leadership, encouragement and support, you create opportunities and experiences that our young people will remember for years to come.

To the families, supporters and partners who stand behind Durham ACF, thank you for your continued support. Your encouragement plays an important part in helping our cadets and volunteers thrive.

National Cadets Week is an opportunity to celebrate everything that makes the Cadet Forces so special. I am immensely proud of everyone who makes up Durham Army Cadet Force and of the contribution you make every day.
