On Monday, 25th May, we were delighted to host our Lochee YC Family Fun Day at the BB Hall on Bright Street – and what an incredible afternoon it was! 💛

Funded by the What Matters to You (Wm2u), this event brought together families from the Lochee ward, including Menzieshill and Charleston, for an afternoon full of fun, connection, and community spirit.

We’d like to give a big shout-out to the following local businesses and organisations for helping make the day so special

- Face painting & glitter tattoos by Funky Monkey Party Services
- A bouncy castle from Bears and Bouncys
- Animal handling with Eden's Garden Animal Handling Parties
- Delicious treats from Mckellicones Ice Cream Van
- Support and information from Health Inclusion Team NHS Tayside

Thank you to everyone who came along and made it such a success!

At the heart of building carer-friendly communities in Dundee are the amazing local businesses that give their time, talents and support to help provide much-needed short breaks for unpaid carers.

These contributions make a real difference—giving unpaid carers the chance to step away from their caring role, improve their wellbeing, and enjoy time doing something that genuinely interests and re-energises them.

We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to the following local businesses who have recently donated a short break. Your generosity is helping carers feel valued, supported and seen.

Thank you to Marieta and the DE&I group at the Dundee Customer & Colleague Engagement Centre at Tesco Call Centre, for inviting us along to their Carers Week event for colleagues. The aim of the event was to raise awareness, provide support, and create a space where carers feel recognised, understood, and empowered.

We had the opportunity to chat will staff who came down on their break and protective time to find out more about what Dundee Carers Centre is and what support is available to unpaid carers

The session allowed us to share knowledge and practical advice for carers, highlight available support and resources and inspire open conversations around caring responsibilities.

🔦Locality Spotlight: Westend Connecting Carers Café & Drop-in

This month, we’re shining a light on the Westend Connecting Carers Café at Blackness Library, who meet on the 2nd Monday of each month (plus a drop-in every other Monday), Blackness Library, 10.30am – 12.30pm

This friendly group offers unpaid carers a chance to connect, share, and feel supported.
We spoke with Pat, Katriana, and Janice about why they attend—and why it matters:

"If it was a hard day you can think to yourself ‘Well I’m going to the group on Monday… Someone is always happy to listen – they’re just such a group of lovely people."

🎥 Watch our short video featuring a walkthrough on how to find the group inside the library.

To find out more about the group and listen to interviews from other attendees, please visit: https://ow.ly/efs950ZamaK

If you’re a carer, you’re always welcome—pop along for a cuppa and a chat
