A beautiful sunset and a stunning starling murmuration 🌅 What more could you ask for?

Come to Meida Hide (RSPB Mersehead) at around 4pm to enjoy this amazing spectacle! Numbers of starlings are greatly increasing so this is a fantastic time of year to visit.

Lovely weather this morning at RSPB Mersehead.

We had just finished checking the weekly camera footage and found this gem! Eurasian badgers will spend a lot of time grooming themselves, to remove any parasites insects like fleas.

Flooding on access road has cleared. RSPB Mersehead is OPEN for visitors again! 😃

We have extended our Super-natural Halloween Trail to Saturday (as it's Halloween). So, if your planning a visit with the family and want to take part, our packs for hire and activity trail will remain available until after the weekend.

We're still taking potions and spells, and hope you will come prepared for lots of family fun. Warning to adults - it's not just for kids in the family!

No need to book, just turn up when the visitor centre is open. There is a charge for hiring the packs.

Thankfully there has been minimal damage caused by Storms Austen and Boelo at the RSPB Galloway Reserves (Crook of Baldoon, Wood of Cree, Kenmure Holms (Ken-Dee Marshes), and Mull of Galloway) so all have now reopened for visitors. We advise you to still take care when visiting, especially when walking through wooded areas, as there maybe debris falling from trees above and on the ground.

Please be aware that RSPB Mersehead still remains closed due to flooding of the access road into the reserve.

RSPB Mersehead remains CLOSED today, as we anticipate further flooding on the access road.

Please don't attempt to visit today, as water levels are expected to rise with forthcoming high tide and continuing rains.

We will do our best to keep you updated, over the rest of this week.

Due to a further weather warning for high winds today the RSPB Galloway Reserves at Crook of Baldoon, Wood of Cree, Kenmure Holms (Ken-Dee Marshes) and Mull of Galloway will remain closed. We advise that visitors DO NOT travel to or visit these reserves whilst the weather warnings are in place. We hope to reopen the reserves tomorrow providing that it is safe to do so.
