On Thursday 25th June the RSPB Visitor Centre at Mull of Galloway will open at 2.30pm instead of the usual 10.30am. This is due to a private event earlier in the day. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.
The Visitor Centre will return to normal opening hours of 10.30am to 5pm on Friday 26th June.

The glorious weather has brought the Rose Chafer beetles out in good numbers at RSPB Mull of Galloway. Best looked for on the white flower heads of Umbellifers (including Wild Carrot) and if you look closely you can see it guzzling on the pollen, as seen in the video.

Another great moth morning at RSPB Mersehead! We had 27 species and 54 moths! Amazing to see the vibrant colours of the Elephant Hawk Moth and the incredible camouflage of the Buff-tip!

Lovely to see lots of dragonflies and damselflies at Mersehead in recent weeks.

Absolutely amazing to see the Mersehead Natterjack tadpoles developing into the four legs and a tail stage. At this age, the yellow dorsal line is clearly visible. We recorded at least 15 toadlets today and will be completing a full survey over the next few days.

Friday morning is Moth morning at RSPB Mersehead. Eighteen species in total with new species for the year including The Flame, Pale-shouldered Brocade, Large Yellow Underwing, Drinker, Shoulder-striped Wainscot and Heart & Dart. The dominant species was Flame Shoulder with over 50 individuals recorded.
