A massive thank you to everyone who responded to our appeal last week! We asked for boys clothes, and your response has completely blown us away. Not only did you show up with gorgeous clothes, but we’ve also had so many extra essentials donated as can be seen in these photos.

We are incredibly grateful to our wonderful community for looking out for local families.

A special shout-out this week to B&Q, Kylie and the Wheatley Hills community, Eunice, Phil, and the Tickhill community, alongside every single person who dropped items off. Your kindness makes a huge difference to the families we support at Baby Basics Doncaster. Thank you all so much! 💙

We've had quite a few new followers recently so thought it would be a good idea to share with you all some more information about us.

Baby Basics is a national organisation with a network of centres that are all run by local church or community groups. They are supported by the local community to support families who are in need of a little extra help at a very vulnerable time in their lives.
Baby Basics Doncaster is the Doncaster branch of Baby Basics UK and we are based at and run by SMC - Sprotbrough Methodist Church

We support vulnerable families across the whole of Doncaster by providing a moses basket filled with items such as bedding, clothing, nappies, wipes, clothes and a newborn soft toy as well as toiletries for mum. We always ensure that baskets are packed beautifully and look like a gift.

All of our baskets are given out via referral from professionals and last year we gave out 261 baskets, with demand growing each year.

We also give out other items such as prams/pushchairs, baby baths and bouncy chairs on request and we are part of South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority Beds for Babies Scheme ensuring that every child in Doncaster has a safe place to sleep.

Baby Basics Doncaster is run by Sarah, our Baby Basics Coordinator, and a team of volunteers who help to sort donations and put together our baskets.

You can view details of what items we take at https://baby-basics.org.uk/centre/doncaster and we will also post on here if there are items we are in particular need of. Items can be dropped off at Sprotbrough Methodist Church on Wednesdays in term time between 10am and 12pm.

Happy Mother’s Day from everyone at Baby Basics Doncaster.

Today we’re thinking about all the mums in our community, especially those who may be finding motherhood a little harder right now. At Baby Basics Doncaster, our core purpose is to support vulnerable new mums and give them the practical help and encouragement they need during those early days with a new baby.

Motherhood can be joyful, exhausting, beautiful and overwhelming all at once, and no one should have to face it alone. Today we celebrate every mum and continue our commitment to making sure new mothers in our community feel supported, valued and cared for.

We have a waiting list of 17 pushchairs!!!!! Can you help?

Do you have a pushchair/pram suitable for a newborn that you no longer need?

Donations can be dropped off at SMC - Sprotbrough Methodist Church, Wed 10-12 term time.

(We do have a few requirements of what we need so please do check that yours meets this criteria before getting in touch. It needs to be in overall good condition and suitable for a newborn, so it must lie flat or have a carry cot. The brake and harness must be fully working and it can't be a stroller.)

We had a brilliant night on Friday for our 5th Anniversary Quiz Night. We welcomed over 60 people, competing in 12 teams and everyone seemed to enjoy the evening.

We are delighted to announce that the event raised over £750 for Baby Basics Doncaster.

We hope that this event will become an annual event in our fundraising calendar and we hope to see lots of you next time!

Baby Basics UK and Baby Basics Sheffield were honoured to be visited by HRH The Princess Royal today.
Her Royal Highness spent time talking to staff and volunteers about the work we do to support families in Sheffield and across the UK.
Baby Basics Centres support 1 in 120 babies born in the UK with the supply of a Moses basket starter pack.
The Princess Royal also met Christopher Money, Co-Founder of Kit & Kin who have been supporting us by supplying nappies since 2020.
Today’s visit shone a light on the tireless work we do to support children and families to give them the essentials they need as they start their parenting journey.
