Tomorrow I'll be in Glasgow along with several thousand other cyclists taking part in this year's Tour de 4. We travelled up yesterday and stayed over at the Wanlockhead Inn, which is Scotland's highest pub. My girlfriend and coach Sharon insisted this would be ideal for altitude training, and pre-event hydration build up. The first job was to fit mudguards to my bike as locals are predicting rain on Sunday.
Saturday morning was spent racing the stunning Drumlanrig Castle 5km parkrun, before having a hearty haggis breakfast.

Tour de 4, Glasgow September 2026 - Fighting Cancer
In October 2024 I was shocked to hear the news that cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy had been diagnosed with Stage 4 Prostate Cancer. This prompted me to have a PSA blood test and I was stunned when my results confirmed I too had Prostate Cancer. Fortunately my diagnosis has revealed it in an early stage so I am now on a monitoring programme. It's a case of so far so good, with no movement, growth or spreading of my Cancer.
In September Chris is organising his second Tour de 4 cycling event in Glasgow, to raise awareness
for those living with Stage 4 Cancer, and to raise funds for various Cancer charities.
I've signed up to do the 55mile event and will be raising money for Prostate Cancer UK. There's a link below if you want to contribute.
Please can I ask that any of my male friends reading this who are over 40, get themselves tested, and any female friends reading this, nag the males in their lives to do the same. Thanks ๐Ÿ˜€

Team Pie Tours East Anglia, July 2026.
2 really enjoyable weeks, and about 600miles travelled in the trusty old motorhome came to an end yesterday. We initially drove south to Mersea Island, then wound our way north through Suffolk and Norfolk. Quiet, country lanes, stunning rural and coastal scenery, in some glorious sunshine confirmed that England has not completely gone totally down the toilet (just yet) ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ. The pubs were fantastic. Proper old character buildings, busy enough, but no dead heads in them. Wild camping wasn't as easy as in Scotland or Ireland, but was possible with a bit of planning. A great holiday, roll on the next one ๐Ÿ˜€. Comment and info in the pics below ๐Ÿ“ธ
