"It feels like a dream, I feel so special, I can't believe they've done all of this for me, I feel so special."

Beth said that on the night of her Dream.

Here is what actually happens before somebody says a sentence like that.

Someone from our team rings the family, usually within a few days. Not to assess them. Just to ask what would help.

Then one of our Dreams Coordinators goes and sorts that one thing out. Sometimes that means going round to the house instead of doing it over the phone, because people tell you far more at their own kitchen table than they will to a stranger who rang up.

No panel. No scoring. No application window. Nothing for the family to pay.

It works like that because we are small and we are local. Nobody checks with head office, because there is no head office. We trust each other to make the call there and then.

Here is the hard bit.

Plenty of people in Doncaster still have no idea we exist. We hear it all the time, somebody telling us they wish they had known about us when it was their family going through it.

Emma found us on the day she started chemo. Her words, not ours: "I knew nothing about Evestrust prior to starting treatment and I hope anyone reading this can help share and create awareness of their existence."

So that is the ask, and it is Emma's, not mine.

THANK YOU, Teresa 🪂

Most people say they'd love to do a skydive one day. Teresa is one of the ones who actually went and did it.

Fifteen thousand feet, out of a perfectly good plane, for a charity in her own town. She has raised over £600 for Dreams. 🌟

Here is what that means in practice. Money our fundraisers raise pays for Dreams for Doncaster families living with cancer, and a Dream is whatever that family tells us would help. A couple of nights away. Time together with nothing to organise. Something that makes the house feel a bit normal again. It is different every time, because we ask.

None of it happens without people like Teresa being brave and then going round their friends and family with a sponsor form.

Teresa, from all of us and from the families this money reaches, thank you. We are so proud of you. 💙
