💜 WE STAND WITH JANE DOE 💜

Seven men. One woman. And a group chat reportedly involving 57 men.

The allegations emerging from the Cornell case are deeply disturbing and have sparked important conversations about sexual violence, consent, bystander responsibility and what happens when people witness or become aware of abuse.

At Healing Sisters, we stand with Jane Doe.

We stand with every woman who has been sexually assaulted.
We stand with survivors who have been silenced, doubted or blamed.
We stand with women who have had their experiences dismissed or minimised.
And we stand against the culture that allows sexual violence to be treated as entertainment, gossip or something to simply look away from.

If you see something, say something.
If you know something, speak up.
If someone needs help, don’t be a bystander.

Silence can have consequences.

Women should be able to feel safe around men, safe at university, safe at parties and safe in their own communities.

Jane, and every survivor watching this unfold — you are not alone. 💜🫶

Healing Sisters stands with survivors.

💜 17 WOMEN SUPPORTED IN JUST ONE MONTH! 💜

Over the last month, 17 women have accessed our Healing Sisters Monday drop-in sessions — and we’re so proud that our little drop-in is becoming a place where women can come for support, advice, information and simply someone to listen. 🫶

Our Monday sessions offer so much more than just a coffee and a chat. Women can access:

☕ Peer support – a safe space to talk, be heard and connect with other women who understand.

💷 Benefits advice – our benefits advisor can help you make sure you’re claiming everything you’re entitled to. If your payments have stopped or something isn’t right, she can help find out why and get things picked up much quicker than simply waiting for a response on your Universal Credit journal.

⚖️ Free specialist solicitor drop-in – access to a solicitor specialising in domestic abuse and family law, offering information and advice around your circumstances.

🩺 Sexual health support – access to sexual health services and advice in a safe and confidential environment.

🌱 Learn a new skill – our workshops give women the opportunity to try something new, build confidence and spend some time doing something positive for themselves.

💗 Women’s Centre support – speak directly with the Women’s Centre and find out what additional support may be available to you.

And most importantly, you don’t have to face everything alone.

Whether you need practical help, legal advice, support with benefits, sexual health advice, a new skill, or simply a safe place to sit with a cuppa and talk — Healing Sisters is here. 💜

🛠️✨ Healing Sisters DIY Tips & Tricks ✨🛠️

Not everyone has someone to call when a job needs doing, so we thought we’d start sharing some simple DIY tips to make life a little easier. 💚

💡 Today’s Tip: Moving a Washing Machine
Need to pull your washing machine out to clean behind it or check the pipes?

🧴 Put a small amount of washing-up liquid (such as Fairy Liquid) under each of the machine’s feet. This helps reduce friction, making it much easier to carefully slide the machine forward without damaging your flooring.

⚠️ A few safety reminders:
• Make sure the machine is switched off before moving it.• Slide it slowly and carefully – they are much heavier than they look!• If possible, ask someone to help rather than lifting or pulling it on your own.• Wipe away any leftover washing-up liquid afterwards to avoid slippery floors.

💚 Do you have any DIY tips or handy household hacks that have saved you time, money, or stress? Share them in the comments – your tip could really help another woman in our community.

Today I had the privilege of leading a boxing session for the incredible women at Healing Sisters Peer Support Group.

Working with survivors of domestic and sexual abuse was a real honour. Boxing isn’t just about throwing punches it’s about building confidence, resilience, self-belief, and helping people discover strength they may not realise they have.

Every woman who took part today stepped outside of her comfort zone, gave 100%, and supported each other throughout the session. The determination, courage, and positivity in the room was inspiring to see.

A big thank you to Jade and everyone at Healing Sisters for inviting me to be part of such an important group. The work you’re doing to provide a safe, supportive space for women is truly making a difference in the community.

I hope everyone enjoyed the session as much as I enjoyed coaching it, and I look forward to seeing you all again soon. 🥊💙

🎉 Exciting News! 🎉

Our volunteers Jade and Jessica have successfully completed their C-Card training with the fantastic sexual health nurses at Locala.
This means we are now qualified to register young people aged 13–25 for a C-Card, giving them access to a range of free and confidential sexual health services, including:

✅ Free condoms
✅ Advice on how to use condoms correctly
✅ Sexual health information and support
✅ Pregnancy tests
✅ Signposting to other sexual health services where needed

At Healing Sisters, we believe every young person deserves access to accurate information and support in a safe, welcoming environment.

Confidentiality is really important to us. Anything discussed during your visit will be treated with respect and kept private. We will only ever share information if we believe someone is at risk of harm or if we have a safeguarding concern, as part of our duty to keep young people safe.

We’re just waiting for our C-Card supplies to arrive, and as soon as everything is ready, we’ll let you know when the service officially launches.

📍 The service will be available at both:
💚 Thornhill children's centre (next to overthorpe school)
💚 Chickenley Children’s Centre
Keep an eye on our page for updates—we can’t wait to get started! 💚

Today we spent the morning putting the world to rights over a coffee before getting creative with some arts and crafts. ☕🎨🖼️

It was also a really productive morning.

Following a chat with our DWP benefits advisor, 4 out of 5 women discovered they had been paying too much Council Tax and were given advice on how to put this right. Some people also received advice regarding the family court process from Eaton Smith Solicitors.

We also had free contraception available at the centre, with several women able to access this during the session.

If you need support with benefits, want to check you’re receiving everything you’re entitled to, need advice about Council Tax or other financial support, or simply want someone to point you in the right direction, drop into our Monday sessions.

At Healing Sisters Peer Support, we support all women. You do not need to have experienced domestic abuse to access our support.

Everyone is welcome, and we’re here to help in a friendly, non-judgemental environment. 💜
