PUNK ROCKERS REUNION FUNDRAISER
The recent Punk Rockers Reunion held at Sandino's night club in aid of the Foyle Down Syndrome Trust, raised a fantastic Β£2,157 for the local charity. 4 bands took to the stage, Now Rudeboy, Suspect Device, The Inflatable Dolls and Damaged with Boa Chitta, along with DJ's Ally and Soupy, all delivered well-known classic Punk and Ska anthems to a very appreciative crowd. The organizer's Pete Hamilton and Dee Jenkins would like to thank all those who attended the gig, the bands for taking part, the gigs sponsor Greg McCartney of The Undertones Mural Official and Sandino's for hosting the charity event.

Our 4-7 Social programme had their final session with Donna from Rugby tots today πŸ‰ and what a fun time we had! It has been lovely to see the children grow in confidence in so many important skills; throwing, catching, kicking, jumping and turn taking 😎 they have absolutely smashed it πŸ‘πŸ€©

🌟 Speech and Language Therapy 🌟

Isla is a member of our 0-3 group at FDST. Isla’s speech and language therapy sessions are child-led and focus on building communication through play.

Modelling core words such as "more" and "help" across a range of activities using spoken language, Makaton signs, and AAC supports communication development through a multimodal approach. By following Isla’s interests, meaningful opportunities are created for her to see, hear, and use these powerful words naturally throughout the session.

🌟 1:1 Education 🌟

Does it get any cuter than this? 😍 Here we have Conor (3) engaging in our See & Learn programme (vocabulary 1).
The key benefits of See and Learn are that it;
- Builds early vocabulary
- Teaches around 60 common first words such as everyday objects, people, and actions.
-Helps children understand and begin using meaningful words in daily life.

-Uses visual learning strengths as
Children with Down syndrome often learn better through visual information.

- The programme uses real photographs, matching games, and picture selection activities to support learning.

As you can see, this clever little πŸͺ already knows quite a few of these words and he loves posting them in our 'All Done bin for cheers πŸ‘ This encourages co ordination and focus on the task all whilst having fun ❀️ I have no doubt Conor is going to whizz through this programmeπŸ‘

Well done Conor, what a little superstar you are πŸŒŸπŸ’™
