So so proud of our Islamic kids choir last week! - Their first performance ever and it was in front of 200 people at St Columb's Hall! - It took a lot of bravery to sing in front of so many people first time! - But they did so so well!

Thank you to Nonono Size Madolo for her inspiring workshop and for sharing her voice and her beautiful song!! - We want to thank each and everyone of you who joined us for the festival - we had such a nourishing and joyous weekend of song and we feel blessed and grateful that you all shared your voices with us to make it so special. Thanks to the wonderful facilitators Valerie Whitworth Lorna NicLochlainn , Sarah Garden and Victoria Geelan , Maeve Leahy & Anna Nolan of Music Kin and a big thank you to Derry City & Strabane District Council for supporting the festival again! On International Womenโ€™s Day, join Victoria, Anna and Maeve from Music Kin for a gentle, restorative womenโ€™s singing circle โ€” with a special welcome to mothers with babies and toddlers ๐Ÿคฑโœจ

This Natural Voice session offers a calm, child-friendly space within the festival to breathe deeply, soften the shoulders and settle the nervous system. Whether you are newly postpartum, mothering grown children, longing to be a mother, or simply seeking rest and connection, you are warmly welcome here ๐Ÿ’›

Weโ€™ll sing simple, nourishing songs taught by ear โ€” melodies that cradle the voice, soothe little ones and build a sense of warmth and belonging in the room. Thereโ€™s no pressure for children to be quiet; feeding, rocking, wandering and tending are all part of the circle.

Weโ€™ll also have a roll of paper, crayons and a few toys available to help keep little hands busy while you sing ๐ŸŽจ๐Ÿงธ

๐ŸŽถ We can probably all think of a song that reminds us of '๐ก๐จ๐ฆ๐ž' a song a family member would sing or a song about a particular place, or one that was sung to us as a child. Songs that give us that familiar feeling of home!

๐ŸŽถ That is what our next project '๐“๐ก๐ซ๐จ๐ฎ๐ ๐ก ๐’๐จ๐ง๐  ๐–๐ž ๐๐ž๐ฅ๐จ๐ง๐ ' is all about! - Over the coming months Music Kin's Musicians will be working with several different cultural communities throughout the city to put together a concert of songs from different cultures that evoke that feeling of home! The project will explore how important song and music can be for identity and comfort, but also how the sense of connection to others through music is a world wide theme!

Whatever your nationality and where ever you call home, we would like to hear about the songs that take you to that place! Come and be involved in one of our groups so that we can explore your special songs.
