🚨🐾 URGENT – HELP US SAVE PREACHER! 🐾🚨
💔 Preacher desperately needs our help before it’s too late! 💔
We have been contacted by a very concerned neighbour in Durham about a dog called Preacher, and his situation is absolutely heartbreaking.
Preacher is an Akita Cross Mastiff who has spent his ENTIRE LIFE OUTSIDE, CHAINED UP IN A GARDEN! 💔
His current owners have been given a new house to move into, but they CANNOT take Preacher with them.
When the neighbour asked what would happen to him, they were reportedly told that he would either be PUT TO SLEEP or simply LET LOOSE! 😢
The area is extremely busy with traffic, and the thought of this poor boy being abandoned and potentially hit by a car is absolutely terrifying.
The neighbour has tried contacting the RSPCA but has been told they cannot help. Sadly, the neighbour is unable to take Preacher in themselves.
WE WANT TO SAVE HIM! ❤️
Here at MacDonald Rescue and Friends, we desperately want to get Preacher out of this situation and bring him down from Durham to give him the chance of a proper life.
But we cannot do this alone!
🙏 WE URGENTLY NEED:
🐾 A FOSTER HOME – Ideally around Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, or the surrounding areas. Somewhere rural, preferably a farm or a home with plenty of secure space and someone experienced with large breeds.
🚗 HELP WITH TRANSPORT COSTS – We are willing to travel to Durham to collect him, but as a completely self-funded rescue, we desperately need help covering the costs.
❤️ A FOREVER HOME – Someone willing to give this boy the love, patience, training and security he has been missing his entire life.

* Age: Approximately 4–5 years (unconfirmed)
* Neutered: Unknown
* Vaccinated: Unknown
* Microchipped: Reportedly not
* Flea and worm treatment: Unknown
What do we know about him?
❤️ He has reportedly never bitten anyone and has no known bite history.
❤️ He currently lives around young children but can be very bouncy and excitable, so we would prefer an adult-only home.
❤️ He doesn’t appear to show food aggression.
❤️ He is protective of the property but seems okay with strangers.
❤️ His recall needs work, and he initially pulls on the lead.
❤️ He has never really been given the opportunity to socialise with other dogs, so we don’t know how he would react.
❤️ His behaviour around cats and other small animals is unknown.
❤️ Having lived outside his entire life, he will need patience, understanding and house training.
Preacher needs an experienced, patient home where he can finally learn what it means to be loved. Any placement would need to be carefully assessed, particularly around other animals.
💔 Imagine spending your whole life chained up outside, only to face being abandoned when you’re no longer convenient.
Preacher didn’t choose this life. He deserves so much better.
We want to help him, but we need somewhere safe for him to go before we can bring him into our care. We will also need to arrange veterinary care, vaccinations, parasite treatments and everything else he needs.
