If you are living with, or care for a person with dementia, it may be time to think about their safety. If they are mobile, could they decide to leave the property unaccompanied, and lose their bearings. Often a person with dementia may want to visit a place their remember from the past. Completing the Herbert Protocol template would identify where those places may be. Speeding up the process of locating them. Feel free to pop into the Selsey Care Shop for support with completing this template. You may need to book an appointment with a member of the team.

πŸ’™ Carers Week 2026 – Building Carer Friendly Communities πŸ’™

This year's Carers Week theme is "Building Carer Friendly Communities" – highlighting the importance of creating spaces where unpaid carers are recognised, understood, and supported.

At Selsey Community Forum, we know that carers play a vital role in our families and communities, often putting the needs of others before their own. That's why we're committed to helping build a community where carers feel valued and can access the support, information, and connections they need.

Whether it's through signposting to local services, providing opportunities to connect with others, or working alongside partners across the community, we're proud to support unpaid carers in Selsey and the surrounding area.

Together, we can help create carer-friendly GP practices, workplaces, community groups, and neighbourhoods where carers are seen, heard, and supported.

If you're an unpaid carer, or know someone who is, we'd love to hear from you and help you find the support that's available.

πŸ“’ Volunteers Needed

We're supporting an increasing number of people in our community who need help with benefit claims, money matters, and completing forms.

To meet this growing demand, we're looking for volunteers who can spare a few hours each week to provide practical support and a listening ear. Full support and guidance will be available.

If you're patient, friendly, and would like to help local people access the assistance they need, we'd love to hear from you.
