A very distressing message came in this morning, the purpose for which is to find a wonderful angel and her 15/16 year old son, without whom the situation would have been unbearably worse. 😟
Yesterday afternoon, my Grape was driving back to Selsey with her husband in the passenger seat, when to her alarm, he started to try and tell her he couldn’t move his arm. As she glanced at him, she saw his face was drooped, his speech was slurred, and he was complaining of chest pains too.
She drove straight to the medical centre and managed to get him inside on a chair, where he slumped over and was clearly having a stroke. The receptionist advised her they were not a walk-in centre, and that she should call an ambulance.
There was a wonderful good samaritan who had been standing behind in the queue, she was with her son, and my Grape would dearly love to find them to say a proper thank you. This lady helped with the 999 call, (blind panic was setting in by then) her son Googled the postcode and address of the medical centre to answer the operator’s questions, then ran first to Co-op, then across to the chemist to get Aspirin to administer.
After almost an hour, a doctor was finally available to see to her husband, so with this lovely lady and her son’s help, they managed to get him in the lift to get upstairs to the doctor, who confirmed he had suffered a stroke.
The ambulance arrived not long after this, and he was taken to hospital for treatment. I can report that the patient is recovering well this morning, which is great news. 🥰
If you recognise yourself and your son in this scenario, please come forward either by message, or in the comments. You were a Godsend yesterday, and my Grape says without you, she would have fallen apart ❤️
