Providing FREE and subsidised therapy to children with physical disabilities and complex needs in the North East. The charity is NOT government funded.

Includes; Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Hippotherapy, Rebound Therapy, Sensory Processing, Movement Therapy and Massage Therapy. Imagine being told your child will never be able to smile, speak, hold your hand or even walk by your side. This is the reality of so many parents who's children have disabilities. Heel & Toe Children's Charity takes out the 'never' in that sentence by providing children with essential therapy so they 'can' achieve those goals. Children aged from birth to 16 years old, are attending therapy sessions at Heel & Toe Centres based in Pelton and Perkinsville, County Durham. It's these therapy sessions that are helping children reach milestones as they grow and develop. The range of therapies we provide is; Conductive Education, Hippotherapy, Hydrotherapy, Rebound Therapy, Massage Therapy and Physiotherapy. That is why we desperately need your donations and support. It’s safe to say our therapy team had a frightfully fun day at the Hydrotherapy Centre!

We hope everyone has a spook-tacular Halloween, whether you're carving pumpkins, trick-or-treating, or settling in for a cosy Halloween movie night!

We would like to extend our thanks to Durham Freemasons and the Durham Masonic Cycling Club who took on the Coast & Castles challenge and raised an incredible £25,000 for Heel & Toe Children's Charity 💙

Last month, a dedicated team of 30 cyclists and support drivers completed an epic 170-mile journey from our main centre in Pelton, Chester-le-Street, to Edinburgh. Over three days, they pushed themselves every mile of the way, raising vital funds to support our work with children and young people with disabilities and additional needs.

Organisers Gavin Rowell and Steve Piercy returned to present the donation and see the difference their efforts will make. Gavin said, seeing the joy on the children’s faces made three days of hills, wind and rain completely worthwhile.

Together, we can keep life-changing hippotherapy free for children who need it 💛

For many years, funding has enabled us to provide free hippotherapy block sessions to children with disabilities and complex needs across the North East. Sadly, this funding comes to an end in December 2026, and without urgent support, the future of the programme is at risk.

Through the natural movement of the horse, hippotherapy supports children’s physical development, helping to improve strength, balance, confidence and independence while enjoying a unique therapeutic experience.

Hippotherapy is an incredibly scarce resource in the UK, requiring advanced postgraduate clinical training. Our service is led by Jo Parsons, who is one of only a small handful of professional therapists qualified to deliver paediatric hippotherapy in the entire UK.

Our goal is to raise £20,000, which will allow us to help children continue to access this incredible therapy without cost being a barrier.

A huge thank you to our incredible Hadrian’s Wall Walkers & Runners! 🥾🏃‍♂️

Last weekend, an amazing group of supporters laced up their boots and trainers to tackle the 13.5-mile Half Marathon route with Wild Deer Events - all in support of Heel & Toe Children’s Charity 💛

Autumn definitely delivered a tale of two weather days along the wall:

💨 Saturday’s walkers faced blustery, brisk, and occasionally showery conditions, tackling a true autumnal challenge with incredible determination.

☀️ Sunday’s runners were welcomed by a crisp, clear, and bright morning with beautiful, settled running weather.

No matter the conditions, every single one of you showed true grit and passion. Thanks to your effort and enthusiasm, we're able to continue providing vital therapy and support to children with physical disabilities and complex needs across the region.

This year, colleagues took on a skydive, the Great North Run, Sunderland 10K and Durham 10K as part of Team Heel & Toe, collectively raising an incredible £5,008. We are beyond grateful for their hard work and efforts to raise vital funds for children with disabilities and complex needs across the North East.

The Great North Run announced that general entries have SOLD OUT, meaning charity places are now the only ones remaining.
