Our Page Guidelines:
To help us keep animal welfare at the top of the agenda, please don’t post any: ⁣

🔵 Violent, obscene, profane, hateful, or racist posts, links, or images⁣
🔵 Comments that threaten or defame any person or organisation⁣
🔵 Solicitations, advertisements, or endorsements of any financial, commercial or not-for-profit organisations⁣
🔵 Comments that suggest or encourage illegal activity⁣
🔵 Multiple successive off-topic or disruptive posts⁣
🔵 Repetitive posts, copied and pasted, or duplicated⁣
🔵 Posts containing specific details about cruelty cases (these should be reported to the cruelty line on 0300 1234 999, rather than posted here)⁣
🔵 Posts which we feel may potentially impact upon prosecutions. Where an investigation is considered ‘active’, any comments made about the case may mean someone facing charges might not be in a position to have a fair trial and the trial could collapse. ⁣

We've launched a cracking volunteer opportunity with our team, and it sits at the heart if everything we do, from finding funds to support our cause, to practical animal welfare delivery.

Would you like to spend a couple of days each month helping to facilitate a mobile vet clinic, microchipping day, fundraiser fun day, or outreach event?

If you're a strong communicator with great organisational skills, and love being out in the community doing good, this opportunity is for you, and we would love to hear from you.

Chester-le-street cat owners! Is your moggie microchipped?

Did you know it is a legal requirement to have your kitty chipped, even if they live indoors?

We are providing a limited number of FREE microchips for cats with the fabulous team at NorthPaw Vets - by appointment only.

Please speak to North Paw directly for more information. This service is available only while microchip stocks last, and is subject to appointment availability.

If you have any queries about this service, please contact: [email protected] or call us on 0191 380 5636.

Ever wondered what a typical day at our branch looks like?

The answer is... there isn't one. 😅

Before lunch, we might have:
☕ Applied for a grant
📞 Spoken to a family needing support
📅 Planned an event
🔨Put up some shelving or solved a Wi-Fi glitch (tech problems require hammers, yeah?)
🐶 Organised a vet clinic
🎟 Sold a raffle ticket
📱 Designed social media posts

Small charity life keeps us on our toes!
What's the strangest part of your job? 👇

PS - if any of this sounds appealing, and you have some time to spare, we have plenty of volunteering opportunities available. Email [email protected] for more info.

Dunno about you, but a cuppa might be on the cards about now! 🍵

📚🐾 Education update!

With the incredible support we received from John Lewis & Partners Foundation, we have (so far) delivered two successful, preventative workshops, supporting children in care, foster parents and family support professionals to better understand practical tools and theory around promoting empathy towards animals, and preventing harm.

We've got another two sessions already in the pipeline, and available bookings remain open.

Creating a kinder future starts with education, and we are incredibly proud of this amazing initiative. 💙

100% of all those in attendance have reported that they felt the training would help reduce future risk for children and/or animals, and would recommend this training to other family work professionals and foster carers.

If you'd like to know more about booking a session with us, or becoming a volunteer workshop facilitator, please reach out to us on [email protected]

Spotlight appreciation post:

This one goes out to the Pets Foundation - Pets at Home’s corporate foundation.

You may have noticed that we are posting more about local, community outreach activities lately.

A huge part of our mission as a small charity is to be as proactive as possible in prevention work. This includes:

🐾Preventing cruelty & neglect through education, signposting and welfare support.
🐾Preventing unwanted litters, the escalation of health issues in pets, or the spreading of diseases amongst roaming cats.
🐾Preventing the relinquishment of beloved pets due to financial barriers.
🐾Preventing animals entering shelters.

Thanks to an incredible grant, and support from the Pets Foundation, our work in prevention in 2026 is growing, our community outreach is expanding, and our mission is truly being recognised.

Without this support, we would not have been able to carry out this essential work. So, we wanted to stand up and give them a huge shout out and THANK YOU - for all of the amazing work you do for animals!!

It means the world to us!!
