"I felt we really told the story in a moving way—a number of the congregation said how deeply they were moved by the performance." Our Musical Director, David Lamper, was beyond delighted with our performance of Stainer’s The Crucifixion this Good Friday.

We are equally thrilled and want to extend a huge thank you to David for his inspired direction.

A special note of gratitude goes to our wonderful accompanist, Lucy. She dedicated countless extra hours to mastering the organ for this performance; its unique voice brought a depth to the piece that made it very special.

Our heartfelt thanks and congratulations to our splendid soloists, Ederic and Brian, whose mellifluous lines propelled the narrative so beautifully, and also to John, Duncan, John and Michael for their excellent solo contributions.

Finally, thank you to everyone who joined us in the pews. Sharing this music with such a supportive audience is what makes these performances so special. 🎶✨

We think you might enjoy a positive local story that reflects the spirit of our community. Three siblings from Morecambe - Duncan, Ederic & Jean - sing together in the Carnforth & District Choral Society, and their dedication, teamwork, and love of music have made them a real inspiration to those who know them.

They’ve grown up performing side by side, supporting each other through rehearsals, and concerts. Their story highlights the power of family, creativity, and community involvement.

We had a brilliant time at our annual social meal this week. Being part of the Carnforth and District Choral Society isn't just about hitting the right notes—it's about the wonderful community we build along the way.

A huge thank you to Morecambe Golf Club for hosting us. Great food, even better company, and surprisingly, very little spontaneous harmonising at the dinner table!

Finding harmony and love at The Choral

As Eric sat down on a radiator during the mid rehearsal break, it was not only his backside that was warmed, because his heart also glowed when he saw Sue.

Sue Beckinsale, a soprano in the Carnforth and District Choral Society for over 13 years and Eric Greenwood, a bass and member for some 11 years got to know each other over tea and biscuits in the midst of rehearsing great choral works mixed in with popular music and show songs.

Their relationship grew, working closely together on the committee for seven years and they recently formalised their duet with a marriage.

The wedding took place in the lovingly refurbished Longridge House and was a beautiful occasion shared with their families, and which was celebrated with the music which had brought them together.

Carnforth and District Choral Society has been creating harmony for over 60 years. It is a friendly, relaxed choir with an emphasis on enjoying performing a variety of choral pieces - from major works like Bach’s Christmas Oratorio (which they recently performed in Slyne with Hest Church Hall) to songs from the shows and rock anthems.

Members come from as far afield as Garstang to Kendal. You do not have to be able to read music to join the choir (although it helps) and we do not hold auditions. Singers can join the choir at any time during the musical year.
We rehearse Thursday evenings 7.15 – 9.00 pm at: Our Lady of Lourdes, Church Hall, Kellet Road, Carnforth, LA5 9LRAll are welcome to come to one of our rehearsals to see what it is like to sing with us.
