Meet Warwick Genesis - Prachi Agarwal
Hello everyone!
My name is Prachi Agarwal and I am currently studying Accounting and Finance at The University of Warwick. I am an 18-year-old Indian. I grew up in Germany and Canada and shifted back home at the age of 12. Yet again, after 6 years, I left India to come to the UK to pursue my undergraduate studies.
Who I am
Living in various parts of the world has helped me realise and see things in a very different light. I believe the diversity that I have grown up in has played a major role in shaping me to be the person I am today. This has aided me in becoming more open minded and empathetic as a human being, which I believe is very essential in today’s time.
Source of inspiration
Watching my dad come home every single day after 9pm, working so hard to support us, that’s what drives me. Not once has he complained about his long hours, instead, he is willing to work even longer if that means we’ll smile more. I want to work just as hard as him and follow his work ethic, because I strongly feel that he has got it right. I hope to work for a large investment bank in the future and I hope that one day I can make it to the top level of management. The path to achieving this goal of mine is by studying Accounting and Finance. Finance has always been a great interest of mine and I knew that if I had to study a subject for the next 3 years, it should be something that I enjoy studying.
Why Warwick Genesis
Apart from the studying aspect at university, I was excited to become a part of societies as they play a crucial role in the university life. I chose Warwick Genesis as this was something different. It is not a society, but a social enterprise, something we need more of today. We need more organisations that are taking action and actually making a difference, and Warwick Genesis does that. I wanted to be a part of this because I want to be able to help people directly and make a difference to even a few lives.
I also think that my motivation to help people will allow me to think more openly and not restrict myself in any way. This will help me explore opportunities not only for myself but also for Warwick Genesis, which could lead to many new ideas and aspects of Warwick Genesis to be developed. I want to be a part of the journey of Warwick Genesis and see it grow to what it can be.
See you soon with Warwick Genesis,
Prachi Agarwal
