The First Aid Charity for Wales. Your donations help us to save lives in Carmarthenshire.

As the nation's leading first aid charity, we offer training and support to people across Wales. Care to those in need is free but it costs us as a charity to provide it. We receive no core government funding and rely on private donations and income from first aid training to fund our charitable works.

Not only do we do the first aid cover for the Cardiff Half, we also run in it! This year, over 50 people ran for us, raising funds to support our lifesaving work in Wales.

At 9:15am on 21 October 1966, the tip above Aberfan gave way. 144 people lost their lives, 116 of them children.
St John Ambulance volunteers from Aberfan, Merthyr Vale, Troedyrhiw, Treharris and Merthyr were there within half an hour. There was no time for uniforms. They dug just as they were, beside miners, rescue teams, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, police, firefighters and hundreds of local people.
David Wilson, then 23, drove a van full of St John nurses to the village. Sixty years on, he has shared his memories with us. "I've never, ever forgotten it," he says.
Today we remember the children and adults of Aberfan, their families, and everyone who answered the call. Please join communities across Wales in the minute's silence.

Today is Restart a Heart Day.

It is every year on the 16th October, and is a day that reminds us that anyone can save a life with CPR. This year, we're sharing the story of Roy, a marathon runner whose life was saved by our volunteers.

Roy was nearing the finish line of the Newport Marathon when he suddenly collapsed. Our volunteer team acted quickly using CPR and a defibrillator to restart his heart.

This morning our Chief Executive Richard Lee joined Dot Davies and James Williams on BBC Radio Wales Breakfast. He talked about why CPR and knowing how to use a defibrillator matter so much, and why women are less likely to get CPR from a bystander in public.

This Weekend Some of our wonderful Cadets joined other Cadets and Badgers from around the country at St David's Cathedral for the Annual Visitation where they provided a guard of honour and acted as Flag Bearers.
