🌟 How Can We Support Carers This Carers Week? 🌟
This year’s Carers Week runs from 8–14 June and is centred on the theme “Building Carer Friendly Communities”

But what does that look like in practice? It means creating places, services, and everyday spaces where unpaid carers are recognised, understood, and valued.

Here are a few practical ways you can help:

✅ Acknowledge & Validate: Recognise the often invisible work carers do. A simple offer to help or a genuine “thank you” goes a long way.

✅ Embed Support in Everyday Interactions: Carer-friendly communities actively identify carer needs and make support a natural part of daily life, whether in workplaces, local groups, or public services
✅ Share Trusted Resources: Help reduce isolation by sharing educational content and expert advice from organisations like Carers UK.

✅ Check In Consistently: Carers rarely ask for help. A quick message, a drop-in visit, or offering to cover a few hours can provide essential breathing space.

Let’s work together to build communities where carers don’t just manage, but truly thrive. 💙

The ‘BEOND’ survey is now open!
The survey is open to parents / caregivers of children and adults with rare genetic syndromes, intellectual disabilities, or neurodevelopmental conditions with co-occurring intellectual disabilities. The survey takes about 60 minutes to complete, which can be done online or via post. Every family will receive a personalised feedback report after completing the survey.
The survey will run for the next 20 years. Families are welcome to take part every couple of years to see how their answers have changed with time. By collecting data over many years, we hope to get a much better insight into how individuals develop over time.

📣 Calling all autistic adults in the UK! 📣

A team of researchers at the University of Warwick and CAMH in Toronto want to hear from you!

They want to understand what support looks like in the UK and Canada for autistic people. They also want to understand what you want support to look like. Share your experiences about mental health, social connection, and support by completing their 30-minute survey.

You do not need to have a "formal" or "official" diagnosis to take part. Self-diagnosis is valid too!

✅ Voluntary & anonymous
📚 Chance to win 1 of 12 books recommended by autistic people
🤝 Designed by a study team including autistic researchers and with feedback from autistic self-advocates
