When the DWP started deducting money from our client’s Universal Credit for a debt written off in bankruptcy five years ago, they tried to resolve it alone, with no success.

Our client contacted our Money Advice team for support. After months of perseverance, formal complaints, and subject access requests, the DWP acknowledged the error.

The results:
✅ Deductions stopped immediately
✅ £350 refunded to our client

Are you looking after someone you love? 💜 Join us at Chartwell House Care Home for a free, friendly morning to mark Carers’ Rights Day on Thursday 19th November, from 10am to 12pm.

Come along and meet members of Kent County Council's Adult Social Care and Health team, Citizens Advice North East Kent and Crossroads Care Kent, and discover the support available to you and your loved ones. You’ll have the opportunity to find out more about services including Dementia UK's Admiral Nurses and Involve Kent, alongside other local support, guidance and resources.

Whether you have questions about carers’ rights, benefits, respite care, dementia support, health and wellbeing, or simply want to find out what help is available locally, our friendly team will be on hand to chat. Enjoy a cuppa and refreshments while you connect with organisations that can make a difference.

Open to unpaid carers, family members, friends and the wider community. You don’t have to navigate caring alone. 💜

Did you know, alongside our general advice services we also offer support through a number of targeted funded projects?

Our Independent Age project in Thanet supports older people living in coastal and rural areas who are experiencing financial hardship, ensuring they get the advice and help they need. Although we focus primarily on private renters, our support is open to anyone aged 65 or older, regardless of their living situation.
