I had the great pleasure of meeting my good friend Bob Wilson this morning. Bob played for Kent between 1952 and 1967 and is a true unsung hero of the Club and our oldest living player (just a couple of singles away from another century!). The Heritage Trust have just published a long overdue biography of him, aptly sub-titled The Epitome of a Team Player. Copies are now available from Barrie in the Club Shop. Bob also kindly signed a few copies for us which will be in the Shop soon - you won't want to miss out!!

Following a meeting this morning with The Langton's Head of Sport Paul Lyttle and history student - and keen cricketer - Max, the Kent Cricket Heritage Trust are delighted to give their support to a project researching the history of cricket at the school (formerly Simon Langton Grammar School). Past Old Boys - and Kent players - include Richard Mayes, Peter Topley, and new "rookie" Olly Curtiss. The School have played cricket for over 130 years so there will plenty to research! If you can help in any way, please contact us via our website, heritage.kentcricket.co.uk

We had the pleasure today of meeting Bridget Preston who has kindly donated a number of pre-War scorebooks from Gillingham CC, several team photographs of past XI's and an early image of a Chatham Dockyard XI. These were all donated in the name of her grand-father, Neal Dow. Thanks Bridget!! If you have any old club documents that are cluttering your attic, please let us take care of them for you.

We are very grateful to Neal Pittman for donating this signed bat which adds to our collection at Canterbury. It is signed by members of the Kent and India teams that met on the St. Lawrence Ground in August 1946. Among the signatures are Bryan Valentine, Doug Wright, Les Ames, Nawab of Pataudi, VM Merchant, VS Hazare and MH Mankad. Thanks Neal, the item has found a very good home!!

We received a new item in the collection at Canterbury today. This painting, by Terence Macklin, was commissioned by Steve Marsh in 1995 for his Benefit Year. Any resemblance to a similar painting from 1906 by Albert Chevallier Tayler is completely intentional! We hope to have the two hanging side by side in the Pavilion very soon.
