As part of The Canterbury Academy Trust, the Canterbury Bike Project aims to improve the lives of young people and help the local community.

We offer bicycle repairs, servicing, and sales. We also offer free maintenance sessions to the public.

Due to the high winds forecast tomorrow the decision has been made to close the park.😭

Unfortunately, this means our trails and mountain bike hire are closed as well.

We will carry out a trail inspection first thing Saturday morning, making sure they are good to go👍

We have also taken the decision to cancel the last day of Bikeability at Blean Primary School, but don't worry, we will be back there after the half term.

It's been such a busy few weeks, so an early Saturday morning was needed to finally get the new sign up. This new sign has been installed next to the main Betteshanger Park entrance. It was too long for my van so I had to carry it almost 500 meters, the wind caught me twice and I thought I was going to fly🤣

Thanks to for the sign, thanks to for giving us a great location and thanks to reprographics for the design work.

As our bike hire provision was closed this weekend at Betteshanger Park, due to an event, we took the opportunity to do something else to keep busy.

On Saturday, we held a Free Learn to ride session that helped 28 children begin their cycling journey, and in our workshop, we held a 2 days Parktool training course where our learners stripped down and rebuild their bikes whilst giving it a full service as part of the course.

All consent forms for this Saturdays Learn to Ride session have been sent out to email addresses provided.

Please dont worry if you haven't received it. Your slot is still booked, and you can complete it on the day.

The training will take place in the coach park at Betteshanger Park. Please park in main car par and walk over.

Over the last few days, our Canterbury workshop has been closed as our main carpark is being used for a large event.

Yesterday, we headed over to our Betteshanger Park Provision and swapped our bike tools for power tools and a spirit level🤣

We started the day building a frame for our soon to be installed new signage. We then began racking out our new storage container for our adaptive bikes in preparation for the launch of our brand new inclusive cycling provision❤️

Our next 2 day Parktool course will take place at our Betteshanger Park Training Centre on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September.

We currently have 2 places available.

This course is designed for the cylcing enthusiast and, over the 2 days, teaches you a full stripdown and rebuild of your own bike. This course covers it all.. For more information about the course content and cost, please get in touch.

This weekend was all about a little rest ready for a busy summer, so I managed to catch up and watch the Bikeability Awards. A huge congratulations to everyone who was nominated and a huge congratulations to all the winners of each category. The Awards are available to watch on the Bikeability Trust via YouTube.

Again, we are incredibly proud to win our award as it recognises how my amazing team goes above and beyond to change the lives of young people through cycling❤️❤️
