As a Community Interest Company, all our profit is put back into supporting the work we do. We support people with learning difficulties to speak

up, make choices and become powerful and influential. We support them to gain opportunities and become more independent in learning, housing, work, health, money, travel, leisure and relationships. We support people to hear, respect and empower people with learning difficulties. We promote positive action to challenge negative attitudes about disability. We work with local communities so that people with learning difficulties become fully included and no longer segregated.

🎙️ The Audiobox is a fantastic example of co-production in action.

Each week, members work together to create a radio programme that reflects their ideas, experiences and interests. From researching topics and interviewing guests to presenting and producing each broadcast, every part of the programme is shaped by the people involved.

The project provides opportunities to develop new skills, grow in confidence and share stories that matter, while creating meaningful conversations with the wider community.

At bemix, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to contribute, share their voice and play an active role in shaping projects that matter to them. Through co-production, we're helping people to be seen, be heard and belong.

Our Dover and Canterbury groups recently worked together on an inspiring co-production project, creating a giant Red-billed Chough for the Transformation exhibition at The Beaney.

Every stage of the project was developed through co-production, with participants sharing ideas, designing the sculpture, overcoming challenges and creating hundreds of handcrafted feathers from recycled materials. Along the way, they learnt new skills, supported one another and demonstrated the power of working together.

At bemix, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to contribute, share their ideas and be involved in shaping creative projects. Through co-production, people can develop confidence, discover new strengths and create something truly meaningful together.

In June, members of our Be Seen Be Heard group in Dover took part in an inclusive dance workshop delivered by Confidance.

The workshop gave members the opportunity to explore movement, creativity and self-expression in a welcoming and supportive environment.

Led by the Confidance team, participants learnt new routines, worked together to create their own dances and enjoyed expressing themselves through movement.

Workshops like these encourage people to build confidence, develop new skills and connect with others through shared experiences in their local community.

A huge thank you to Confidance for delivering such an engaging and inclusive session.

Supported Interns from the bemix Supported Internship Programme recently enjoyed a special visit to Maya’s Community Shop in Herne Bay, where they went to support and catch up with their Preparing for Employment (PfE) friends, Tommy and Lewis, who are currently volunteering there.

The visit gave the Supported Interns the chance to see first-hand the important work Tommy and Lewis are doing in their volunteer roles, helping out around the shop and supporting local people in the community.

The students enjoyed looking around the shop, learning more about how it helps others and seeing the positive impact their friends are making. There were also some exciting discoveries along the way, with Emmanuel especially pleased to find a glass chess set in the shop.

Visits like this are a wonderful way for students to learn from one another, celebrate each other’s progress, and see the many ways they can contribute to their communities through volunteering and work experience.

We’re so proud of Tommy and Lewis for the work they’re doing, and of all our students for supporting one another on their employment journeys.
