🍂Working Party Update🍂
Our Autumn Working Party was really well attended, beautifully sunny, and very productive!
For most of the morning we split into 3 teams. One group moved 2 sheds onto new plots, using the famous 'sedan chair' method, and lots of muscles! A second group cut up branches from a very tall plum tree which John W kindly reduced to 8 feet tall following our new lease requirement - we helped with chopping up the branches to a manageable size and taking them away. A third group headed to the small site where a number of vacant plots were tidied up prior to re-letting. They harvested all the produce left behind - a HUGE pile. Most will be split between charity projects Hope For Food, and The Pantry. And Emma took a basket of figs and a squash to Royal Bournemouth Hospital where they'll be made into a rather tasty sounding salad dish for an upcoming nurses social night. As well as this, we tidied up 3 more vacant plots on the big site, weeded the community area, helped on the plots of people temporarily incapacitated, and cut back the brambles overhanging the road. Over the coming days, the donated food will be dropped off, and the green waste taken to the tip.
A huge effort from all concerned! Thank you to everyone who showed up to help - and my apologies I wrote everyone's name down to say thank you but I've lost the list - I'm so sorry. You know who you are - thank you.
Our working parties are a great way to get to know other plot holders from different parts of the site, swap growing tips and stories, learn new skills, and gain confidence using tools like strimmers.
Our Christmas working party will be Saturday 19th Dec - save the date! 🎄
