🎉Happy birthday, Rachel! 🎈

Rachel started playing the trumpet at 9 years old, and is a talented musician with Grade 8's in cornet and singing. She has been with BCB since 2004 (with a few short breaks), having also played with the Ringwood and Burley Band, Verwood Concert Brass, and Poole Borough Band. Rachel is one of our superstar soloist players, performing both on flugel and cornet.

Her ideal day would be, in her words - "eat, band, pub". She loves roast dinners, her family, and her friends.

We hope you have a fabulous birthday, Rachel! 🥂

🎈Happy birthday, Andy! 🎂

Andy joined BCB in 2024, and has been a huge asset to the band as he can play almost every instrument (we will leave you to guess which one he can't play), a special talent we have very much made use of. Andy also plays with the Boscombe SA band (the positions vary there too!), and he often finds himself playing cornet in the morning and Bb bass in the evening.

Andy grew up in Scotland, and now lives in Bournemouth. His brother-in-law, Wayne, also plays in the band.

We love Andy's light-heartedness, and the humour he brings to the bandroom. We hope you have a great day, Andy.

Many thanks to Andy's sponsor, Coaching4Confidence.

🎈Happy Birthday to our very own Mary Poppins, Lois! 🎉

Lois joined BCB in 2009 with her husband John. She started playing cornet in 1976, and played with Cosham Concert Brass (now Denmead ) and Chichester City Brass before making the long journey over to us (travelling from Fareham to Bournemouth!).

Lois was recognised at our Awards Dinner last year for her extraordinary talent - having everything one might need during band practice. She has been asked for screwdrivers, tweezers, sellotape, scissors, plasters, bluetack and so on, and each time has been able to provide it to those in need. We really appreciate you and your bag, Lois, thank you from all of us at BCB!

Many thanks to Lois's sponsors, Kath & Dot James, and the Chichester City Band.

𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠-𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝐏𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐲.

Peter joined Bournemouth Concert Brass 33 years ago on 1st trombone, and has also played euphonium and baritone with the band. He has been instrumental to the band's long term success and stability, having also served on the committee for over 10 years, and is proud to have been part of the BCB band who took part in the Championship National Finals at the Royal Albert Hall on two occasions. However in Peter's own words, at 85 years old, he has sadly "run out of oomph".

Peter is affectionately known in the brass band world as "The Professor", he has a doctorate in maths, and has arranged many pieces over the years for BCB.

We will miss him very much, and wish him all the best!
