Is becoming emotional in front of those you support wrong?

What are your thoughts on this?

I remember working with someone for well over a year and when he died, I was really upset. At the funeral, I battled internally with being upset and being 'professional' and keeping a 'stern' exterior. What I learnt was, I am human, they are human; with hindsight, I felt it was ok to cry! I wish I had known that then!

Huge thanks to Two Saints and Lucy for telling her story to the Social Work Students at BU.

Some of our team members, David, Jess, and Lucy, recently visited Bournemouth University to give a talk to social work students about their experiences within their respective roles.

A special acknowledgement must be made for Lucy, who did an incredible job discussing addiction, and how this might look whilst being homeless, as well as her own experiences with being homeless and rough sleeping. She was also very happy to take any questions from the students.

Lucy has said: “I really enjoyed speaking with the students about my experiences. I love advocacy work, and would love to continue doing these sort of events.”

A huge thank you to all of the team for sharing their knowledge and experience, great work!
