Our advisers have identified over 2,000 unpaid carers since January 2025, giving them access to information, advice and support they might not otherwise have received 🥳

Carers Support West Sussex were vital partners, helping us reach carers earlier and support them more holistically.

Many unpaid caregivers don't initially see themselves as "carers," viewing it as part of their relationship, especially when caring for someone with an illness, disability, addiction or mental health issue ⤵️

🍽️ HILS West Sussex is a not for profit meals-on-wheels service provider. They operate the service for West Sussex County Council, delivering hot meals to older and vulnerable residents throughout West Sussex.

Their hot meals service is a two-course hot meal that is delivered by Community Team Members who will carry out a wellbeing check on every delivery.

There is no contract and so it is ideal for short- or long-term need.

Our 'Energy for Carers' project, with Carers Support West Sussex and SGN, has reached over 2,000 carers with information or direct referrals.

Unpaid caregivers are essential for helping people get care, stay independent, and remain active in their communities.

Through preventative energy advice, we keep vulnerable people safe at home, reduce avoidable GP and hospital visits, maximise carers’ incomes and provide access to emotional, practical and peer support.

Unpaid caregivers often don't view themselves as "carers" because their relationship comes first ❤️

However, recognising this role unlocks vital support - including carers assessments, respite care, financial assistance and peer support.

Anyone who provides regular, unremunerated support to a family member, partner, or friend who cannot manage day-to-day activities on their own is an unpaid carer.
