🌟 A Fantastic Morning at the Chichester City Council Community Forum! 🌟
Today, our Chairman and Project Manager Andy Orpin had the pleasure of attending the Chichester City Council Community Forum on Good Practice in Volunteering, held from 10:00am – 12:30pm. The event was hosted in partnership with Voluntary Action Arun & Chichester and brought together community leaders, local councils, and voluntary groups for a morning full of insights and inspiration.
What Happened Today?
💬 Welcome & Introduction
The forum began with a warm welcome and important housekeeping notes by Charlotte Walker of Voluntary Action Arun & Chichester, setting the perfect tone for the day.
🏛️ Organisational Insights on Volunteer Management
We heard fantastic contributions from:
Lucy Elsey and Tallulah Hyde – National Trust, Petworth House
Suzy Downes – Community Transport Sussex
Each speaker shared how their organisations support and nurture volunteers, offering practical tips and innovative approaches.
🤝 The Volunteer Perspective
The highlight for us was Caroline Robinson’s session on Best Practice from a Volunteer Perspective. Her insights will be incredibly valuable as we continue to develop the volunteer experience at the Fort.
📣 Interactive & Networking Sessions
A lively 20-minute Q&A session gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions and exchange ideas.
The morning concluded with a full hour of Community Group Networking, where Andy shared updates on our restoration project and connected with other fantastic local groups.
A Big Thank You!
Andy extends his heartfelt thanks to the organisers for the invitation and for delivering such an engaging and informative forum. We can’t wait for the next session and to put these lessons into practice!
