Brilliant news for us! ❤️

🎉 Great news! Our Haven Wellbeing Café has received new funding! 🎉

The Shore Café The Haven - at The Shore Community

We’re so excited to share that this support will help us refresh and expand our café — making it an even warmer, more welcoming space for everyone.

The £19,550 funding is coming from Awards for All (The National Lottery). This is welcome news as our well utilised café space is needing some TLC.

Here’s what’s coming soon:
🎨 A refreshed look with a new counter, fresh paint, and ceiling repairs
☕ New equipment, crockery and cutlery
🌱 More eco-friendly equipment to support composting and sustainability

Our café already welcomes around 100 people a week — and these changes will help us serve even more of the 600 people who visit the Shore Community Church each week.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years. We can’t wait to share these improvements with you — come have a cuppa and see what’s new! 💚

Earlier this year we created a new page on our website, with information about our current impacts in the local community. Particularly about how our work with early years, children and young people has really been helping to make a difference. You can read all about it over on our Impact page: http://www.havenwellbeing.org.uk/impact/

Some quotes:

“James' mum said how (a supported Transition Meeting) had been very helpful, and that the strategies had helped them so much in the home. We saw progress in his spoken and receptive language and his ability to self-regulate, where before he had often hit out when frustrated by not being able to communicate his wants and needs.“

“Some of what we intend to do and have been doing:

1) Introduce mental health awareness and resilience teaching for self-care to school years 4, 5 and 6. Over this period (late 2024) we have seen an overall improvement in resilience and self-care with youth reporting that they are feeling better after 3-4 weeks of attendance.

2) Provide teaching on good relationships and what healthy relationships/friendships look like to school years 4 to 11. Over this period (late 2024), we have seen an overall improvement in social connections with youth reporting improved relationships.

3) Work with groups and individuals from school years 4 to 11 on self-esteem. We are working towards 80% improvement in this area.”

Such an amazing event, many thanks to The Wrens!
