A fantastic example of community action in our local area.

Around 40–50 local residents joined Ferring Conservation Group at Goring Gap on Sunday, helping to clear litter and fly-tipped rubbish from the area, with at least 30 bags collected.

It’s great to see local people giving their time to look after the places we all share, and another reminder of the important contribution voluntary and community groups make across Arun and the surrounding area.

Could you play a part in making our communities more resilient?

At Chichester’s Emergency Services, Armed Forces and Community Day, we met some of the incredible people and volunteers who help keep our communities safe, prepared and supported when it matters most.

From Community First Responders to organisations providing vital support in emergencies, it was a great opportunity to hear first hand about the difference volunteers make.

VAAC is supporting volunteer recruitment for Community Resilience organisations across Arun and Chichester, with funding from the Sussex Resilience Forum.

Help shape the future of the Chichester plan area

Residents, businesses, community groups and organisations are being invited to help shape the future of the Chichester area as work begins on a new local plan, which will guide development until 2045.

The new local plan will help guide decisions on homes, jobs, infrastructure, the environment, and the character of our communities.

Chichester District Council is encouraging people to help shape the area’s future by sharing their views between 7 August and 25 September at www.chichester.gov.uk/localplanconsultation.

To find out more about the Local Plan, including how the government is proposing that some planning policies will be set nationally, visit: www.chichester.gov.uk/new-local-plan-2045
