⛵ Can you spare 2 minutes to help Blyth Tall Ship win £1,000?

Blyth Tall Ship is about so much more than ships. We're a charity working to preserve Blyth's proud maritime heritage while creating opportunities for people today and into the future.

Through our work, we are:
⚓ Keeping maritime history alive through the restoration and sailing of Williams II, alongside the preservation of Blyth's historic Port Archive and Community Collection.
💙 Improving health and wellbeing by giving people opportunities to build confidence, develop friendships and experience the benefits of being part of something.
🛠️ Creating pathways into employment through practical training, skills development and NVQ opportunities in traditional shipbuilding and maritime trades.
🌊 Bringing communities together through sailing, workshops, volunteering, education and events.

A £1,000 award from Benefact Group would help us continue making a difference, supporting our work and opening up even more opportunities for people across South East Northumberland.

If you're out and about in Blyth, Ashington or Cramlington you may have already seen our Trailblazer promotions in community centres, libraries and sports centres.

Our friends at Blyth Spartans have been promoting our FREE to attend courses at their club house, helping us reach new audiences and people who may benefit from our support. ⚽️

If you are 16 or over, out of work and live in South East Northumberland, we can offer you certificated First Aid, Exciting new skills in Seamanship, DIY training or help you research your past through our Archiving course! There really is something for everyone. Get in touch for more information.

CEO Siobhan has had a fantastic morning at the beautiful Trinity House Newcastle, attending a wonderful event and discovering one of Newcastle's real hidden treasures!

Tucked away on Newcastle's historic Quayside, Trinity House is an absolute treasure trove of maritime history, filled with fascinating artefacts, stunning artwork and incredible stories that remind us just how important Newcastle, the River Tyne and our North East coastline have been to maritime trade and seafaring for centuries.

And here's a little history for you! ⚓

Trinity House Newcastle has roots stretching back over 500 years, with its historic home on Broad Chare associated with the city's mariners since the late 15th century. Established to support the maritime community, the organisation has a remarkable history of promoting navigation, supporting seafarers and preserving our region's proud maritime traditions.

It's a wonderful reminder that our North East coastline has played a hugely significant role in shaping Britain's maritime history, something we're equally passionate about celebrating and preserving at Blyth Tall Ship.

Beyond the fascinating surroundings, the morning provided a fantastic opportunity to meet some wonderful people, make valuable new connections and share stories about the work we're doing in Blyth to bring maritime heritage to life through skills, education and community engagement.

We're already looking forward to welcoming some of our new connections to our Heritage Workshop very soon. There's nothing quite like bringing together people who share a passion for our region's history and its future!

We've had a lovely afternoon with Friend of Blyth Tall Ship, Ed Waugh Author and Playwright of the fabulous Wor Bella with Wisecrack Productions. It was great to show Ed around Williams II and chat about how we are preserving heritage and culture in Blyth and beyond.
We are looking forward to supporting the Blyth Wor Bella shows in March 2027 and working with Ed on some exciting projects over the next few months!
