Each year Billingham transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour and joie de vivre and becomes a “meeting place” for world cultures, showcasing the diversity and richness of the World traditional and contemporary dance and music at performances and workshops, presenting over 300 best International performers tries from all over the World. Congratulations Olga! 👏

We are proud to announce that earlier today (1st April) BIFFs Artistic Director Olga Maloney was awarded with a prestigious civic honour for her dedicated services to the region.

Olga was presented with The Mayor’s Special Award at the Mayor’s Civic Awards during a ceremony held at the Billingham Forum Theatre in Tees Valley.

After being nominated for consideration, Olga was chosen by the Civic Awards Panel as the winner of the award.

An award endorsed by the outgoing Mayor of Stockton-on-Tees Councillor Stephen Richardson and the Corporate Management Team.

Olga dedicated the achievement to all of the volunteers, dancers, regional and international dance theatre companies, musicians and audience members - for their great dedication and tireless hard work devoted to the Festival over the past 60 years. 💃🕺

The annual Mayor's Civic Awards recognise those who have gone above and beyond in the community and help make Stockton-on-Tees a great place to live.

🗣 Olga adds: "Arts, music, dance and sport is what is brining people and communities together, regardless of race, colour, religion, gender and background. Billingham Festival is at the forefront of uniting cultures through music and dance, brining communities together, working towards the unity of humanity." 🌏

There's still time to share your fondest BIFF Memories.

You have until the end of May 2026 to send us your best stories and encounters that you can remember about the festival.

The resulting items will be compiled into an online project that will forever be a way of celebrating the past 60-years of dance, arts and culture.

Trawling our minds for Memories 💃🌏🕺

Wow we created some amazing new memories during BIFF 2025, which was our 60th anniversary year.

As part of those celebrations we promised that a permanent online collection of memories would be collated from the past six-decades and then kept like a treasure trove for generations to adore and admire for years to come.

There is still time for you to send us your memories whether it's a story, a photograph, a poem, a visual memento that reminds you of BIFF.

We are delighted to support our friends from Rendez-Vous dance who are launching the UK Tour of thier highly acclaimed dance theatre show The Monocle, choreographed by award-winning choreographer Mathieu Geffre, at the ARC in Stockton on Saturday, 31st January.
