Sometimes, the most amazing things start with something as simple as sitting down for breakfast. 🥹❤️

Back in the summer, we sat outside Munchies Mill Lane in Billingham having breakfast when Paula decided she wanted to do something special for Hope Cancer Support. Her idea? To take on a 5K challenge and raise some money for our little charity.

Little did we know just how incredible this journey was about to become! 😭❤️

Paula got the whole team involved, and over the past few months, we have watched in absolute amazement as the fundraising total continued to grow. Every time we thought it couldn't get any better, it did!

From collecting donations at a game, to having collection boxes in Munchies and Hockey Hound, the support has been nothing short of phenomenal. Every donation, every share, every bit of encouragement and every single person who got involved has helped make this happen.

And then came the 5K! 🏃‍♀️🏒❤️

What an incredible day! So much laughter, so much fun, so much community spirit and so many people coming together for a cause that means so much to us.

Because that's the thing about the Cleveland Comets. They're not just a hockey team. They're a family like no other. ❤️🏒 A family that shows up, pulls together and proves that when people genuinely care, incredible things can happen.

And now, the total is in…

🎉🎉 AN ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE £2,625!!! 🎉🎉

Honestly, where do we even begin to say thank you?

Hope Cancer Support started because I know firsthand how lonely and frightening a cancer diagnosis can be. We exist to make sure nobody has to face cancer feeling alone, whether they're going through treatment, living in remission, supporting a loved one or navigating bereavement.

Every single penny raised will help us continue to provide that safe space, friendship, understanding and support to the people who need us.

And here's the exciting bit… 👀❤️

THIS ISN'T A ONE-OFF!

We've decided that this is going to become an ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT! 🎉🏃‍♀️🏒

As we work towards becoming a registered charity, the opportunities to grow, raise even more money and support even more people are going to be even greater.

Just think what we could achieve together next year! 😭❤️

What a wonderful group today and a lush visit from Digital Voice who are working with Northern Cancer Voices to produce short films about what works and doesnt work in cancer services.
The group certainly gave them a lot to think about, but they really appreciate being able to have their stories told 🫶🫶🫶

Where do I even start with today?! ❤️🏒

Weeks of planning, organising, talking, worrying, fundraising and getting everything ready… and today was finally the day, the Cleveland Comets Recreational Ice Hockey Team 5K!

And WOW… you absolutely smashed it! 🔥

Starting from Billingham Forum, everyone set off on the 5K and what followed was honestly incredible. The conversations, the laughter, the encouragement and the support throughout the route were just unreal.

This wasn’t just a 5K.

It was a whole community coming together to support Hope Cancer Support, and it reminded me once again why I absolutely love what we do.

Because this is more than fundraising.

This is family. A family like no other. ❤️

Absolutely brilliant! 👏👏👏

And a HUGE thank you to Paula, who came up with this amazing idea in the first place. Without that initial idea, today wouldn’t have happened.

And of course, an enormous thank you to the Cleveland Comets for getting behind Hope Cancer Support and making this happen. 🏒❤️

But the thank-yous don’t stop there…

🎂 Craig’s daughter made the most amazing cakes and then stood outside Billingham Forum selling them — raising an incredible £50 for Hope Cancer Support!

How amazing is that?! Thank you so, so much. ❤️

And then we had the absolute legends who decided that running 5K wasn’t hard enough… so they did it in FULL ICE HOCKEY GEAR! 😂🏒

Honestly, you lot are completely bonkers — but absolutely brilliant!

Every person who ran, walked, supported, donated, baked, cheered, shared the fundraiser, gave up their time or simply turned up today has played a part in making this such a special day.

And the best bit?

🏒⛸️ WHAT. A. MORNING. ⛸️🏒

Today was a VERY special morning at Billingham Ice Arena as our amazing Eden took on her 5K ON ICE to raise money for Hope Cancer Support — and honestly, we couldn’t be prouder! 💜

We were absolutely overjoyed to have Karen from Hits Radio Teesside join us and support Eden as she took on this incredible challenge. Having her there made the morning even more special! 💜

A HUGE thank you to Paula, Liz and Dad Matty for joining Eden on the ice and helping her smash her 5K. 🏒💪

A massive thank you too to Eden’s friend Jack, who started Learn to Hockey alongside Eden last year, for coming along to skate with her — and to his mum Andrea for being there to support her too. 🥰

We also couldn’t do it without the amazing people from both of Eden’s skating worlds:

Eden’s journey on the ice has been incredible to watch. She started skating at just 3 years old, discovered hockey last year, and today she combined both worlds to take on a HUGE challenge for something incredibly close to her heart.

And she absolutely SMASHED IT! 🔥

⏱️ 5K completed in UNDER 30 MINUTES! 🤯👏

That is one seriously impressive achievement for an 8-year-old!

A special thank you also goes to Eden’s school, for supporting her and allowing her to take on this challenge on a school day. Your support means so much to us. 💜
