Quick warm up to find my centre as advised by my wonderful inclusive choreographer, bestie and all round genius thank you for that 🙏🏻🫶🏻 (it can be really difficult to find my centre due to my scoliosis) followed by further work and improvement of my scratch spin position.

I've never been able to spin with my free leg so far crossed and down before on or off the ice so I'm super proud of this progress on the !! 😁🎉

When you know you know right?

I have finally found my spinner 😍🥰💫

It's the 12" Ultimate Plus Mad Spinner and I've got mine in my gorgeous lavender 🪻 colour 💜 from The Mad Spinner company

I'm gonna bring mine to the rink for people to try on either Monday or Thursday evening 🌃👀

Follow my steps in the reel to progress to the beginnings of a scratch spin position from the start:

1. Two-foot spin
2. As fast as you can with your feet as close together as they'll go on the base, use your core to stay balanced
3. On one foot turn a quarter, 4. then a half 5. Then a controlled full rotation with free leg out
6. Repeat but with two full rotations
7. After one rotation pull the foot in to an upright spin position with the knee of the free leg bent
8. After one full rotation with the free leg out pull it in and across into the scratch spin position or as close as you can get with your abilities

The next steps I haven't reached just yet! 🤞🏻⛸️💫

Okay the cat (or should I say the spinner) is out of the bag! 🐈

I'm really excited to announce that I've become a brand ambassador for The Mad Spinner company! 🤪💫

I'm hopefully finally going to get a lot better using off-ice spinners now I have one that doesn't travel 🤞🏻 which should in turn improve my spins and turns on the ice too 😁

Keep watching to see my scoliosis 📺➡️

To my scoliosisters and brothers out there! And those who are just curious to know! 🤔💭

Welcome to the second installment of my mini series about how each of my conditions affects my skating/exercise in general ♿⛸️

The abnormal curvature and rotation of the spine or influences my athletic ability in a few specific ways: 👟🎽

Muscular Imbalance- muscles on one side of the spine may strain or become weaker than those on the opposite side which can cause a reduction in rotational power when skating. ⚖️♎

Decreased Mobility- my spinal curve slightly restricts my range of motion, impacting balance and body awareness when I'm skating, mainly during turns and spins. 🩼

The main takeaway from this post I want to be is despite it's effects, having scoliosis doesn't mean you can't take part in or 🫵🏻♿⛸️

When you're an ice skater, leaving the ice is the hardest part. ❄️ Stepping off the rink feels like leaving a piece of you behind 🧊💔

Removing your skates and tearing yourself away from your second home is always slightly gutting, but at least the endorphins from your skate linger for a while afterwards 😁⛸️

As a para ice skater who gets injured and has to miss out on skating for long periods at a time regularly, you cherish every glide 🧑🏻‍🩰🦢

Another surprise this week I've been keeping from you! 📰☺️

Thank you to Barron Media for being very understanding and accommodating of my conditions during the interview and thank you to the for publishing my story especially on your front page 🙏🏻⛸️

I'll keep raising awareness if it kills me! 🦓♾️🌈
