August Summer Scheme Day 5:

All Abilities Olympics ❤️💛🩵🧡❤️

Today marked the final day of our Summer Schemes. We can definitely say we ended on a high! The energy and enthusiasm was just fantastic from all our crew and the wonderful young volunteers and staff from New Lodge Youth Centre who helped and supported our guys. Thank you!! ❤️

The competition was fierce between our athletes today but we were so impressed how they all cheered for each other no matter the team! That shows the unity, the friendships and kindness that is embedded in Happy Days. Well done everyone, we are so very proud of you all! 💗

A massive thank you to New Lodge Youth centre for allowing us to take over the building today and all your support to make today run smoothly.

Thank you to Joe from Tamhi Tackling Awareness of Mental Health Issues for your generosity and support, we are looking forward to doing more work with you. 💕

Also to North Belfast Food Bank for our BBQ, we definitely needed a feed after all the games and workouts. Thank you, it was delicious 😋

To all the staff and volunteers at Happy Days, we pulled it off today, this week and over the summer. Relax over the weekend. Go team! 💐💐💫💫

A shout out to Ibe Sesay who gave up his precious time especially over this busy period to meet and present the crew with their winning medals. It was a pleasure to have you with us today. We loved having you with us. Thank you! 💕🥇🥳

August Summer Scheme Day 4: Pizza & Paint

After our Peace of Mind Programme with the fab Evan from Cedar Foundation we ordered Pizza and chips for lunch and spent the afternoon painting posters for our All Abilities Olympics tomorrow whilst listening to traditional Irish folk music. We brought the Fléadh to Happy Days 🤣
You are probably noticing a pattern...we love a good bit of grub during our summer scheme.

We are excited about tomorrows event and have a few treats to look forward to

Summer scheme Day 3: Cinema & Chinese Food

Nothing like a bit of motivational Moana in the morning to make you believe in yourself, know that you matter and you can do anything you set your mind to!

In hindsight, we should have carried out a challenge afterwards or created vision boards but instead we went to the Chinese buffet and had a feed that most eating competitions would be proud of. 😋😬😬
Perhaps the movie set up our motivation for the eating.... (clutching at straws here) however after an early mid day feast we were unable to set goals or look deep into our souls 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

It was a great hump day to say the least! ❤️❤️

August Summer Scheme Day 2: Ulster American Folk Park Museum

We set off for Omagh and ended up in America. 🤣🤣
A trip through time together was so much fun as we learnt about how thousands of Irish people emigrated to America after the famine.
It would have been a challenging and bleak time to be alive however it helped us think of how lucky we are to have better housing conditions, more food and many more luxuries.

August Summer Scheme Day One: Streamvale Farm 🐮🐷🐴🐰🐑🐐🐣

We had a wonderful day at the farm visiting the animals especially the cute little puppies. We all found it very relaxing petting, feeding and learning about the animals. We are lucky to have a great interactive farm on our doorstep.

Thank you to New Lodge Arts for our Build the Beat workshop with Tom. The guys had a fun time creating music of their favourite genres. Definitely some aspiring DJs in the mix. A great way to start off the weekend 🎧🎚️🎛️

Summer scheme Day 5 - Sand, sea & silliness

We embraced the heatwave and headed to the sea to make sandy burgers and hot dogs! 🙈😂

What a wonderful day to wrap up our July Summer Scheme. At Browns Bay the sun worshippers didn't know what hit it as we all walked onto the beach holding multiple pieces of equipment to ensure our day ran smoothly. Colleen packed everything except the kitchen sink. Thank you Colleen for being so organised!!
We had a blast jumping through waves, eating burgers and constantly rubbing the sand away 😂😂😂

Thank you all who have attended this week, I'm sure we will sleep well tonight!
