Monthly Meetings held at Ballymac Hotel Dundrod, last Wednesday of each month at 8pm. Everyone is welcome. MCUI Marshal Association: The Backbone of Irish Road Racing

The Motor Cycle Union of Ireland (MCUI) Marshal Association is a dedicated volunteer organization responsible for the safety, management, and ex*****on of motorcycle racing events across Ireland. As the "orange army" seen trackside,

these marshals are the first responders and essential guardians of the sport. who We Are

The Association comprises a highly trained group of enthusiasts who provide the vital infrastructure for both short-circuit and the world-famous Irish road racing events. From the **North West 200** to local club championships, our members ensure that every race is conducted under the highest safety standards. What We Do

The role of an MCUI Marshal is multifaceted and critical to the race weekend:

* Flag Signalling: Communicating track conditions, hazards, and race status to riders in real-time.
* Incident Management: Providing immediate assistance during accidents, including bike recovery and track clearance.
* Crowd Control & Safety: Ensuring spectators remain in designated safe zones and managing paddock security.
* Course Preparation: Setting up safety bales, barriers, and ensuring the circuit is "race-ready" before the first engine starts. Join the Front Line

The MCUI Marshal Association is always looking for new volunteers. No prior experience is necessary, as the association provides comprehensive training in:

1. Flag protocols and meanings.
2. incident handling.
3. Radio communication and race control procedures. Being a marshal offers the best seat in the house and the opportunity to be part of a tight-knit community that keeps the heart of Irish motorcycling beating.

A massive thank you to every single marshal who gave up their time to volunteer at this year’s Classic Festival of Ireland! 🏁🏁
Your hard work, vigilance, and dedication kept everyone safe and made the entire event run like clockwork. Events like this simply do not happen without volunteers like you.
A huge congratulations to our Clerk of the Course, big John McClure, and the rest of the club team for putting on an absolute masterclass of a weekend. Brilliant job all round!

Rest up, celebrate, and see you all at the next one on the 5th September for the Belfast & District Motor Club Ltd USBK in Kirkistown 🙌👏

🖤 In Loving Memory: Greer Connolly
It is with profound sadness and a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing of Greer Connolly, a truly legendary figure within our community and a lifelong stalwart of the MCUI (UC) Marshal Association.

For decades, Greer was the absolute bedrock of the roads and tracks. Whenever there was an engine roaring and a bike on the track, you could almost guarantee Greer was there with his orange jacket on, radio in hand, ensuring the safety of riders with the quiet confidence and professionalism that only a true veteran possesses.

To say Greer was a long-serving member doesn't quite do it justice. Greer was part of the very fabric of the MCUI (UC) MARSHAL ASSOCIATION. Through the rain, the sunshine, the triumphs, and the challenging days, Greer's dedication never wavered.
A Trusted Mentor: Always ready to welcome new marshals, share a bit of hard-earned wisdom, or crack a joke to ease the tension.

An Unreplaceable Presence: The paddock simply won’t look or feel the same without Greer’s familiar face.

The Ultimate Humble Servant: Typical of the man’s modesty, Greer was nominated multiple times in the past to become an Honorary Member of the association. Yet, true to his understated nature, he always politely refused. He didn't do it for the titles or the accolades; he did it purely for the love of the sport and his fellow marshals.

Award-Winning Dedication: His immense contribution did not go unnoticed, earning him well-deserved awards within the Marshal Association over the years—accolades that reflected the immense respect his peers held for him.

More Than a Colleague: Greer was not only a colleague to those he worked alongside; he was a very good friend to us all. His warmth, loyalty, and steady presence created a bond that stretched far beyond the racetrack.

"Volunteers don't just find the time; they have the heart." Greer had the biggest heart in the sport, giving a lifetime of weekends to road racing so that others could chase their dreams safely.

The entire road racing family owes Greer a debt of gratitude that can never be repaid. We extend our deepest, most heartfelt condolences to Greer’s family, friends, and the many colleagues within the MCUI Marshal Association who are grieving this monumental loss.

Rest easy, Greer. Your shift is over but your legacy on the roads will never be forgotten.

Flags at half-mast. Rest in Peace. 🏁

A Vital Equipment Update for our Marshals! 🛠️🏍️
Check out this fantastic moment! We are extremely grateful to our dedicated member, Sean Johnson, who recently donated 20 brand-new, heavy-duty lifting straps to the Marshal Association. 👏

Why is this equipment so critical for us?
In the aftermath of serious incidents, motorcycles can sometimes be so badly damaged that they are no longer able to be pushed or wheeled off the track or road. These are the situations where our marshals must step in and manually move the bike to clear the route safely and quickly.

Having 20 high-quality lifting straps significantly increases our ability to deploy equipment rapidly across multiple points. This allows our teams to:

Safely right and lift heavily damaged bikes.

Clear the incident scene much faster, reducing delays.

Protect both the marshals and the bike from further damage during the recovery process.

Sean's generosity ensures our marshals have the tools they need to operate effectively and maintain safety for everyone involved.

Can You Help Us?
Our marshals work hard to keep everyone safe, and we are constantly in need of updated equipment and resources. If you or your organization would like to support our efforts by helping us acquire essential gear, we would love to hear from you!

Please reach out to our Public Relations Officer for more information on how you can get involved:

Thank you again, Sean, and thank you to everyone who supports our marshals! Appreciation

In Memory of Kamil Holan #74

The MCUI UC Marshal Association wishes to express our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and team of Kamil Holan, who tragically lost his life during this year’s North West 200.

Kamil was a true competitor, a gentleman of the paddock, and a rider who truly embodied the spirit of international road racing. His passion for the sport was evident to every marshal stationed around the course, and his loss leaves a void that will be felt by the entire racing community.

To us, the marshals, the riders are more than just competitors; they are our friends and our heroes. We stand on the banks in all weathers because we share that same love for the roads. When a tragedy like this occurs, it hits our "orange family" incredibly hard.

As a mark of respect and to honour his memory, members of the MCUI UC Marshal Association have laid flowers at the scene on behalf of the entire marshalling community. We stand in silence with his loved ones, offering our support and our deepest sympathies.

"The road racing family is a tight-knit one. While we feel this loss deeply, our thoughts and prayers remain entirely with those closest to Kamil during this unimaginably difficult time. We thank him for the memories and the talent he shared with us all."
