EONC 2025 Deferred!
With regret the planned 2025 EONC has had to cancelled due to a possible risk of civil conflict in South Sudan. The whole ELSSA team wish South Sudan peace and prosperity. ELSSA will liaise with our friends and Colleagues in SS and will hopefully be able to arrange suitable dates for 2026.

Plot twist: it wasn’t his final day, but today is! He’s calling the last day a ‘recovery ride’ but it doesn’t sound like much of a recovery with another 27 miles on the clock and a climb the height of the Burj Dubai!

Hats off to Gary, a big achievement.

🥳What a final day! Glorious sunshine, sprawling mountain vistas and 27km of brutal non-stop ascent. Climbing Stelvio is a big achievement and a fitting end to Gary’s Dolomite challenge. Now for a well earned rest.

If you’ve been following Gary’s progress and would like to donate to the cause he’s been cycling in aid of, you can follow the GoFundMe link below.

The money you donate will help run two week-long life saving courses for the doctors, midwives and birth attendants of South Sudan, which has one of the highest maternal mortality rates globally.

The work ELSSA does to help educate and train healthcare workers involved in caring for mothers and babies is invaluable and relies heavily on donations so please do consider giving if you can.

Another huge effort for Gary today cycling the famous Sella Ronda, a circuit of the Sella Massif. The views are incredible and the weather has held out but a challenging day after the big climbs of yesterday…

Today he has cycled another 32 miles and climbed 5,500 feet. In total that’s almost 13,000ft of ascent, the height of Mount Fuji in Japan!!

We couldn’t be more proud of Gary’s efforts in aid of ELSSA.

Dr Gary Dorman, who is leading the ELSSA 2025 team has taken on a massive challenge in aid of the work we do in South Sudan: cycling the mountain roads of the Dolomites. Found in the Northeast of Italy, they are known for punishing climbs and steep descents.

Today, on the first day of his challenge, Gary has put in a massive effort of a 46mile cycle with over 7000ft of climbing!!!

If you would like to support Gary and the work of ELSSA in South Sudan you can follow the links to our GoFundMe page or our website bellow.
