BasOp "Basildon Operatic Society"

BasOp "Basildon Operatic Society" ‘The Society for Musical Theatre in Basildon’ Basildon Operatic Society is an established amateur theatre company based in Basildon, Essex.

The origins of the society go back to the 1930s when the organist at St. Mary's Church, Langdon Hills, decided to stage Pirates of Penzance to keep the children in the church choir out of trouble at the weekends. Curiously then known as St. Mary's Athletics Club, the society grew over the years to become first Laindon and District Amateur Operatic Society, and then more recently Basildon Operatic

Society. The society performs in both shows and concerts, currently producing its annual show in late May or early June, and its concerts in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Originally BasOp's shows were exclusively selected from Gilbert and Sullivan's Savoy operas, but these days a good number of musicals are produced too. BasOp is unquestionably Basildon's leading musical theatre society.

The most fabulous five months would not have been possible without our amazing creative team behind this fabulous show!

Thank you so much to our amazing producers Fay and Louise, our fantastic backstage team, Krissy, Josh, Dave and Amanda, our costume extraordinaire Will, the incredible Jamie on sound and Jack on lights! We have absolutely loved having you both on board. And finally our Jack of all trades our amazing stage manger Matthew who also built our fantastic set!

To our musical director James Green, thank you so much to you and your amazing band! Who brought the House down every single night!

And finally to our director and choreographer Vikki! We are so grateful for the most amazing 5 months you have given our company and we are so lucky to have you at BasOp!

A week full of standing ovations would not be possible without the audience. Thank you so much to everyone who bought a ticket and came out to support BasOp, without you we couldn’t do what we love and we are forever grateful.
