💜 Sorry we’ve been so quiet… but we’ve had something very exciting to share! 💜

We know it’s been a little quiet from us lately regarding Temperance House, our new women’s centre, and we’re sorry for that! We’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and we’ve been waiting for the right moment to share some very special news with you all.

✨ This week, something incredibly exciting happened… work has officially started on the development! ✨

Seeing the first work begin has been such an amazing and emotional moment for us. What has been a dream, a vision and a lot of hard work is finally starting to become something we can see taking shape in front of us. 🥹💜

There is still lots to do, and we know there will be plenty of challenges along the way, but this is a huge milestone and a massive step towards making our dream of creating Temperance House a reality.

We couldn’t let this moment pass without sharing it with you — especially after all the support, encouragement and belief we’ve received along the way. If you have previously offered help and support we will be in contact with you soon.

🎉 GCSE RESULTS NIGHT – A SAFE SPACE TO CELEBRATE! 🎉

A huge good luck to all our local young people receiving their GCSE results today! 💙

Whatever those results say, getting to this point is an achievement worth recognising.

Tonight, labyrinthbarnstaple in conjunction with barnstapletowncouncil spacepsm and Encompass Southwest are hosting a special UV Glitter Party tonight, exclusively for school leavers 🪩✨

It’s great to be working together to give young people somewhere dedicated to celebrate this milestone with their friends.

And most importantly — congratulations to every young person getting their results today. Whether you got exactly what you hoped for or your next step looks a little different than expected, today marks the beginning of your next chapter. 🌟

💙 Do you have a young person leaving secondary school this summer? 💚

Leaving school and taking that next step into college, sixth form, training or further education can be exciting but it can also mean leaving behind familiar faces, routines and friendship groups.

That’s why we’re really excited to be part of this initiative, helping young people in our community make new connections, meet others at the same stage of life and build friendships as they take their next steps.

If you’re a parent or carer of a school leaver, please encourage them to come along. It’s a great opportunity to meet new people in a relaxed and welcoming environment and they might just meet someone who’s heading to the same college or course too! 😊

Sometimes having just one familiar face can make that first day feel so much easier. 💛

👉 Please share with other parents and carers of school leavers, and encourage your young person to get involved.

Have your say on homelessness in North Devon

North Devon Council is asking local people to share their views as it develops its approach to homelessness and rough sleeping.

For the people we support, homelessness and housing insecurity rarely exist in isolation. They can be closely connected with experiences of trauma, poor mental health, substance use, poverty and other challenges — and having access to safe, secure housing can be an important foundation for moving forward.

That’s why it’s so important that the voices of people who care about these issues are heard.

If you live or work in North Devon, or have experience or an interest in homelessness and housing insecurity, please take a few minutes to complete the survey and share your views.

Your feedback can help inform how homelessness is prevented and responded to locally.

Next Wednesday is International Youth Day! 🎉👏Alongside Space Youth Services Young Devon Barnstaple Town Council Earth Action North Devon North Devon Unesco Biosphere - we will be at Rock Park to celebrate the young people in North Devon. 12-4pm.
There will be games, crafts and youth workers for the young people to access support and information. No pressure, just hang out with others, bring a friend & have fun!
