Encompass Southwest, formerly known as the Barnstaple Poverty Action Group (BPAG), is an independent community-based charity that provides a range of services to people across the Southwest of England, who are experiencing crisis and hardship. We work to prevent and resolve homelessness and rough sleeping, and to reduce the impact of poverty and financial exclusion. Where we are:
The organisation is managed by a voluntary Board of Trustees drawn from the local community and local organisations, and is a company limited by guarantee. Encompass Southwest is completely independent and has no religious or political affiliations. The services are delivered by a team of staff and volunteers. Registered charity 1145286, registered company 07149873, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority 618752.

Together, we provide a seamless service that supports residents from immediate financial crisis through to long-term resilience. Our partnership combines specialist money and debt advice, welfare benefits advice, housing support, homelessness prevention, trauma-informed practice and financial education to provide holistic support for people experiencing financial hardship.

Today is World Homeless Day. 💚

At Encompass, our teams support people rough sleeping and experiencing homelessness every day.

We can help with the immediate things someone may need - including tents, sleeping bags, clean clothes and food - and longer term support to find advice, specialist support and accommodation.

A tent should never be the end of someone’s journey.

Everyone deserves somewhere safe to call home.
